Mitt Romney Takes on Detroit

By Garance Franke-Ruta

The race for 2012 is already on in the Republican Party, and today failed 2008 contender Mitt Romney appeared to take a stand sure to complicate any future presidential bid. In an op-ed bluntly titled, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt," the former Massachusetts governor argued against the automobile salaries and pension systems that have for decades helped define the good life in industrial Michigan, where Romney won the GOP primary this winter and where his father was once governor.

Ben Franklin remarked, “We have given you a Republic, if you can keep it.” Looks like we did... for 232 years until this month. A Republic replaced by a Democrat idiocracy. You can indeed fool enough of the people enough of the time when the populace is kept deaf, dumb, blind, and obediant. It’s time for mass resistance and considerable disobediance.

Your post is inaccurate. Romney personally killed the Mass. GOP.

One presumes that you and Romney also (without substance) deny Romney's role
in the murder of the Maucks and the attacks on Gov. Palin?

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to New Hampshire Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”

- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”
[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."
- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006

Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney

Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?

Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?

Romney Supporters Trashing Palin

Romney advisors sniping at Palin?

Novak: Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign

Said Novak: The rumors were "traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson

"As far as Romney goes He was very articulate about conservative principals."

"I'm not running as the Republican view or a continuation of Republican values.
That's not what brings me to the race.

(Romney Video, accessed 9/19/07)

I'm very clear I think, to the people across the Commonwealth
my "R" didn't stand so much for Republican as it does for reform.

Palin isn’t a conservative, she is a feminist. The fact that her children take a back seat to her career proves it.

Thanks for the insult to me, a working mother when my children were small...

That comment was so nasty, it kicked me in the guts...

I wish I could have been like Governor Sarah Palin and taken my babies to work with me ...

BTW, every time Gov Palin was on the stage, there was little Trig, cuddled in some loving arms...

His Mom’s or a sister’s...

I hope your babies were as loved as Trig is ...

I hope your are or were as much a woman and mother as Sarah...

You are either very young or dont understand what a feminist is...

Any woman not a slave is not a feminist...

They knew that women like Palin would try to exploit their feminine appeal to get votes.
______________________________________________

So you are fat, ugly and short...????

And maybe old....in your own mind...????

You appear to have an obsession about looks...

Mr. Romney is old enough to be Governor Sarah Palin’s father ...

And looks every day of it...

Romney is a wicked abortion pusher...has been for nearly 40 years..

Sarah is pro-life and has more than proven it...

I celebrate the life of little Trig...

I respect and admire Governor Sarah Palin...

Bzzzzt. Wrong again. Are you a monkey at a typewriter?

1. FRee Reepublic is NOT a blog.

2. URLs were provided so it is not hearsay

3. No matter what the source, you RomneyBOTs impugn it
and the people, and those who reported it, and everything
except the bad behavior of your Master Myth Romney.

btw, some conservative women like the homemaker, submissive role and still know how to support another conservative woman and cheer her accomplishments. submissive does not always mean barefoot, pregnant and least of all silent

i know! i am a working woman...
i was a homemaker when my kids were young and believe me, that was work too...
i was making a general statement, i have a few submissive friends, but that does not mean idle or weak, barefoot and pregnant, or without opinion. most certainly not in the same ocean as what was being defined by another poster.

"The only thing that has changed over the last 90 years is who is able to vote."

No, something more important happened: We turned away from God.

"Look at that and its easy to see why we are where we are and why there is no hope."

If many share your view, then perhaps there is no hope, and Hussein really is "The Antichrist."

it seems very wicked to call someone names and then to quote scripture.

Jesus did it...

Shall I quote you some scriptures ???

Yeah, why not...

Jesus talking...

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like to white washed sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Matthew 23:27

As for the dead being raised, haven’t you read in the book of Moses, in the story about the bush, how God said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!” Mark 12:19, 20

LOL.....Names like "very wicked"? So mamma says that it is very wicked to call people names...but isn't calling someone "very wicked" a calling of names?

Nana, you were spot on in quoting this:

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!"

Wow, you are so right, I have been thinking the very same thing and feel entirely hopeless. I watched the ignorant in my own family support BO, there was no talking to them. And now they are all upset about his choices, the man has no idea of what he does...

She’s a lightweight, she doesn’t have the ability to articulate conservative principals. All she does is talking points. She has no substance, she is a cheerleader. That is not repeating anything I have heard, it is the conclusion that I have come to on my own.

Untethered from having to support John McCain, I think she will articulate the conservative viewpoint quite well. She was quite limited in what she could say, because of him - couldn't go against him, because it would have been used to divide them.

Give her a chance (if she wants one), and I think she will do great.
