Rush was credited with putting the 94 congressional elections over the top. But what has he of Sean done for us lately?
Well there was the 2006 congressional elections. Not only did we lose seats, but we lost control.
As you noted, McCain go the nomination against Rush's very vocal objections. His little operation to screw with the democratic nomination process to weaken Obama for the long haul paid off in spades. Oh wait, Obama ran a pretty seamless campaign.
And he was very vocal against the election of Obama. Guess who's going to the White House. Few people were more vocal about the bailout than Rush. I see that was passed too.
It's one thing to have positions and answers we probably all pretty much agree with. It's quite another to be able to convince a majority of others that you can't simply press a button and disconnect from them allowing you to have the last word.
...in a manner of speaking.
Perhaps the clout of talk radio is vastly overrated and while it may help educate people to the issues, how many voters do they convert and to what end if their candidate loses?
Another example would be Olbermann; I can’t imagine anyone except a diehard left wing liberal even bothering to listen to him and therefore, his ability to convert a Republican to vote for Obama would seem to be non-existent. In both cases they conduct a business and I have no quarrel with that; whether anything is accomplished though is questionable.
