As his Senate career nears its end, Republican Chuck Hagel isn't holding back when it comes to criticizing members of his own party — including conservative talk radio hosts.
"We are educated by the great entertainers like Rush Limbaugh," Hagel said Tuesday during a speech in Washington, according to the Huffington Post.
"You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office," a sarcastic Hagel continued. "They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly. [The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers."

I would love to see Rush’s Brother, David run for Senate in 2010! Anyone know if he’s ever considered it? I’m not sure where he lives, but why not pick a State with a vulnerable seat and establish residence, just as Hillary did? David is very qualified, Rush would have a lot of fun with it, and it would drive the libs absolutely NUTS to hear the name Limbaugh when the clerk called the roll, day after day after day...

Like when the Dems filibustered all of the Pubbies' legislation in 2000-2006? Or when Dems filibustered or blocked most of the court nominees during the past 2 years, especially? No, I don't suppose that is what Hagel is referring to. He is only concerned about Pubbies being partisan. He's so much like McCain in wanting to be liked by the liberal MSM or the liberal Washington social circuit. He's pathetic.
I’ll clarify my statement: McCain “was” nominated as the Republican Presidential nominee; Obama “was” elected as President. Ronald Reagon “was” nominated as the Republican nominee and subsequently elected as President. Bill Clinton “was” elected even though he was not a “conservative.”

Perhaps the clout of talk radio is vastly overrated and while it may help educate people to the issues, how many voters do they convert and to what end if their candidate loses?
Another example would be Olbermann; I can’t imagine anyone except a diehard left wing liberal even bothering to listen to him and therefore, his ability to convert a Republican to vote for Obama would seem to be non-existent. In both cases they conduct a business and I have no quarrel with that; whether anything is accomplished though is questionable.
I agree with you boxer21. I think conservative talk radio influence has dimished as they have tied themselves to the Republican Party, which compromises their otherwise conservative message, as though those values meant less than the Party. If they didn’t tie the conservative message to the party but merely applied those principles the life and left it up to the audiance to go with the logical results the conservative outcome would be more meaningful. Dems would still be critized twice as much as Repub. but the principles could be left standing free and pure.
Same for the left with Limbaugh and Hannity.
