Huck unloads on Mitt; Romney camp hits back
Mike Huckabee is using his new book, out this week, to settle a few scores, not the least of which is with his fierce primary rival, Mitt Romney.
Per Michael Scherer, Huckabee picks up where he left off earlier this year, tweaking Romney as a rich guy and firing what may be the first shots of the 2012 primary.
Romney, Huckabee, writes, was "anything but conservative until he changed the light bulbs in his chandelier in time to run for president.
At another point, Huckabee portrays a Romney proposal to encourage more investment in the market as, "Let them eat stocks!
The former Arkansas governor also takes a shot at Fred Thompson who ensured his defeat in the pivotal South Carolina primary as well as those evangelical leaders who didnt get behind his bid.
But none of these people may emerge again in four years as political rivals of Huckabee.
Asked to respond, Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said Huckabee was acting small.
This type of pettiness is beneath Mike Huckabee, Fehrnstrom. If were going to move the party forward, we need to offer more than personal recriminations. Unfortunately, in this book, Mike Huckabee is consumed with presumed slights, and he seems more interested in settling scores than in bringing people together.
Huckabee is really acting like a child with those kind of cheap shots.
Whatever, it is his right to be a baby.
For my part, I won’t watch his show, and I hope it gets canceled.
Perhaps Fred and Mitt, my two choices during the primary, can work together to help deliver a positive—not petulant—message for America. We’re gonna need one after 4 years of Hussein.
Huckabee is a fine one to talk about who is conservative because he certainly is not!
You kidding me? He has been consistently petty and dishonest. He covers it well, but he lied about many things that did not even matter, which is a VERY bad sign and a major personality flaw. He is probably the most insecure guy. I can't believe they gave him a talk show.
“I am not saying the Huckster was not a good candidate,”
That’s okay, I’m saying the Huckster was not a good candidate! :0)
Why not? You have described most talk show hosts to a T. Huck should fit in nicely.
If Huckabee wants to do his party (and nation) a favor, he’ll go back to Arkansas and challenge Blanche Lincoln for her Senate seat in 2010. The GOP bench strength in Arkansas is practically non-existent, and this is a seat the GOP should be able to take back.
Also, Romney should be gearing up for a Massacusetts Senate run, in the event Kerry is selected as SOS.
And McCain would have reached across the box to the other side to let any homeless guys to the left of the box in.
Hillary would have started screaming at the whole bunch of homeless until every one of them packed up their bedroll and left.
Sarah would have sat down on top of the box with her legs crossed and put out her thumb, a truck would have picked her up and she would have gone somewhere and gotten a decent job and made a success of herself.
He still reminds me of Gomer Pyle!
I think we'll be better off if none of the Republican Presidential candidates from the 2008 primaries tries again in 2012...let some fresh faces into the arena and see if any of them looks better than Palin.
Yes, those would be excellent. Unfortunately, guys who are governors are used to being the BOSS. Senators have to play with others, and those two would be going in as juniors. I don't think their egos could take it. :)
That was a deep exposure of his character. If he had said, "Yes, wasn't that a lovely effect: that is what I am talking about, putting the Christ back into Christmas," that would have been meaningful and nice. But he actually SCOFFED SARCASTICALLY about how "People, it's JUST a BOOKCASE." That's not a Clinton-trying-to-weasel-out-of-being-caught-with-an-intern lie. It's a pathological lie, one that hurts himself far more than the truth.
I, for one, do not want pubbie from this last election to apply for the job again. I have had enough.
Big Mike won't be challenging anyone in AR because he knows darn well he will lose.

“Yeah, but Mormons are not real Christians dont you know. Sarcasm off”
All Christian churches agree with that, and they are not being sarcastic.
I am a libertarian; however, I often vote Republican if I believe that person to be the best candidate. I will honestly say I have never voted for a Democrat (at least not on the national level - I voted for Governor Richards here in Texas).
I did not like Senator McCain, because I believe he is as far left as President Bush. In fairness, President Bush did what he felt to be in the best interest of America, but those actions left many people backing away from the GOP in ‘06 and ‘08.
If the GOP does not get back on track with the views and directives that President Reagan championed, I believe they will go the way of the Whig party! As an example, I believe that Senator McCain would be President-Elect if he had voted AGAINST the $700 billion bailout. Had he stood by his principles about pork-laden bills and named names of those in both parties that added budget trinkets and pork, he would have widen the base that Governor Palin was already attracting. In addition, he would have immediately added those opposed to the socialization of America! And most of America would have seen that he was truly going to change the way Washington, D.C. works. But, Senator McCain doesn’t think like Reagan.
I believe the GOP has too many RINO’s and I believe that both of these gentlemen are RINOs! Both have used the same phrase as President Bush - “compassionate conservative.” That phrase translates to “fiscal socialist” and that is why the Dems are in control now!
I think Thompson would have run a tougher campaign. I can’t say if he would have won or not, but I think he would have put up a better fight. And I don’t think you would have heard inance comments from him like, “Obama isn’t a bad guy. There’s nothing to fear about him.”
I am getting the feeling that some of you are homesick for this holiday card.
[Only one dog was harmed in the making of this card.]
Mama cooks with genuine lard!
