Sarah Palin’s failure set to reap her $7m book deal
The Sunday Times ^

She failed to save John McCain from presidential election doom, but Sarah Palin, the Republican senator’s controversial running mate, may yet emerge as the saviour of the American publishing industry. Literary agents are queueing up to sign her to a book deal that could earn her up to $7m.

With Barack Obama’s election victory certain to generate dozens of volumes from politicians, strategists and journalists – and with another shelfload of memoirs expected from members of President George W Bush’s administration – Palin’s personal account of her tumultuous introduction to national politics is widely regarded as the book most likely to repay a multi-million-dollar advance.

“She’s poised to make a ton of money,” said Howard Rubenstein, New York’s best-known public relations adviser.

“Every publisher and a lot of literary agents have been going after her,” added Jeff Klein of Folio Literary management.

a load of the books.

If Sarah Palin is considered a failure I wonder what the msm and the print media calls itself.

This is why she is a winner in this deal no matter what the outcome of the election. She is now a spokesperson for her party and she now gets a financial benefit. She should hold out for more. How much did they pay Hillary?

The Jim Wright scenario did cross my mind.

But I suspect that world-wide, Obama's books did a brisk business.
There are plenty of Socialists, Communists and Anti-Americans
that would want multiple copies.

And I wouldn't be suprised if just about 95% of university/college
libraries have multiple copies to meet the demand of students
and faculty ready to learn from The ObamaMessiah.

If she gets $7 million, it would blow peoople’s mind, in this age of greed, to donate all or most of it to a foundation studying Downs Syndrome and autism. I’ll bet she does, she doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk.

Sorry, but he was doomed to fail the second he “suspended his campaign” to do nothing about the bail out travesty.

He could have fought for it or he could have fought against it. Either one would have been better for the campaign than his actions which looked like someone wandering around the mall in confusion wondering where Montgomery Ward was.

She can write her book and collect the money.
The law was not written to apply to the Constitutional office of the Governor.
The part of the law at issue:

“AS 39.52.170. Outside Employment Restricted.
...(c) The head of a principal executive department of the state may not accept employment for compensation outside the agency that
the executive head serves.”

But according to the Alaska Constitution, by definition the Governor is NOT “The head of a principal executive department of the state”:

“Article 3 - The Executive
... 25. Department Heads
The head of each principal department shall be a single executive unless otherwise provided by law.
He shall be appointed by the governor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of the legislature in joint session,
and shall serve at the pleasure of the governor, except as otherwise provided in this article with respect to the secretary of state.
The heads of all principal departments shall be citizens of the United States.”

(Of course some immoral gutless sissy liberal lawyer may think otherwise...)

Governor Palin didn't "fail." I believe that without her on the ticket, McCain would have wound up with a popular and electoral count blowout loss that rivaled Mondale. Speaking for at least 12 people that I know who voted for McCain, they probably wouldn't have bothered voting, and I know for a fact that I wouldn't have been motivated enough to leave the emergency room to go and vote as I did. And that's in MO, where the vote for POTUS still hasn't been certified (as far as I know because it's too close to call - the last time I checked it was 49.6% - 49.2% in McCain's favor).

I’m still laughing at a lib who said to me when we said we lived in Saskatchewan for awhile...”Oh, must have known Sarah Palin!” And, she was serious about us being UP NORTH and close to her.....until I explained the Canadian provinces location in relation to Alaska....LIBS are STOOOPID.

When I was going to school in NY, I ran into people who thought that Kansas City was still without paved roads and that we had cattle walking the dirt roads.

I’d like to see the price MORE THAN whatever Bubba and Hillary got for their “works”.

Not me. I plan on buying several copies.
