I have a theory. The big money boys looked at what the Republicans were fielding here and saw that this election would be the ultimate downfall of democracy - when the people would vote themselves all the goodies from the public treasury. So, 6 weeks or whatever ahead of the election, they set up the Financial Meltdown Armageddon Show to be played out all over the news and starting their cries for “bail-outs” so that they could rob the till before the mob and the rabble could get to it. It seems to be working for them.

I agree; you may not be off the mark here — some would scream “conspiracy theory” but I’m not so sure -— makes a lot of sense to me, too.
