According to a Friday New York Times article by David Kirkpatrick, Barack Obama has reassigned Fairness Doctrine proponent, former FCC Commissioner Henry Rivera, from heading his FCC transition team: At least one official initially involved in the transition appears to have been reassigned because of concern about his lobbying or legal work. Henry Rivera, a former Democratic commissioner on the Federal Communication Commission who was involved in planning for the agencys transition, has dropped out of that role because he had represented clients on communications policy in the last year, the newsletter Communications Daily reported Friday.
Kirkpatrick went on to report on Riveras new position in the Obama transition team: Instead, on the list that was made public on Friday, Mr. Rivera was listed on the team handling science, technology, space and the arts. Despite the reassignment, it is unclear if Riveras influence over a future FCC appointment has diminished. As the Media Research Centers Seton Motley explained on FNCs Your World With Neil Cavuto, Obama will have the opportunity to appoint a member to the FCC in 2009, possibly opening the door to a reimplementation of the Fairness Doctrine.
The New York Times article, entitled Obama Transition Tangled in Ties to Lobbying, examined the numerous former lobbyists involved in the Obama transition: President-elect Barack Obama has imposed stricter conflict-of-interest restrictions on his White House transition team than any president before him. But a list of transition team members that his office made public on Friday includes a complicated tangle of ties to private influence-seekers.
Do as I say, not as I do.
May Rush crush the Orwellian “Fairness Doctrine”.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh
the thing cuts both ways is their fear???
But Barack Obama is still on the team, right?
Obama scares me to death. People are following him so blindly and he doesn’t have a clue what he is doing, empty suit.
I’ll admit this might be wishful thinking. But I can’t believe this Fairness Doctrine unearthing is something this new and messianic team wants to go chasing.
First, the reason stated in this post...that the guy who would turn the tide has questionable past. Second, Obama would be going up against some very mighty voices....ie Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin, et al. This power combined could make life mighty uncomfortable for the new Messiah president.
Third, what the hell’s their argument? First, back when this thing existed there was only the networks. No Internet, no Youtube, no cable TV. Second, OBAMA WON! How on earth did the right wing radio talk show hosts hurt him?
So this decision, if true, makes sense. But big egos know little common sense so we shall see.
I don’t believe it. I’ll bet it was because he shot a 22 rifle once when he was a kid...
He scares me, too. I have been studying about the rise of Hitler and he ran on the “change” platform durring a bad economy, too. He was charismatic just like Obama and preached to a bunch of brainwashed people just like Obama. Yesterday on FoxNews, I just caught the tailend of it but it was something about something that is or was on Obamas website about asking people if they have ever been on a web forum where there is cursing and asking about if you own a gun and have ever used it for violence. I wish I had caught more of it but that was the gist of it.
There is the honeymoon period for a president (which never applied to Pres. Bush)
Is Obama waffling?
They would ALL be gone, including Obama.

Even more powerful are OUR voices. We gathered on the Mall, then marched to the WH to rally support for impeachment, without the encouragement of talk radio or Fox News.
That was 10 years ago. We are stronger now than then, thanks to Jim Robinson.
I am perfectly willing to carry a sign against the stifling of freedom of speech.
It is VERY invasive. One would be a fool to even consider replying to such questions.
Want to know who paid Rivera? Sirius radio paid his lobbying firm: $600,000
Here’s the rest of the contributors to his lobbying firm: total in 08 $4 million

He knows exactly what he's doing.
That's why you are scared to death!
Oh yeah, yeah. I am with you on this.
I truly believe that with all the talk radio guys ganging up and calling for mass protests....yes indeed, I’d be there too, with a smile on my face.
Yes indeed. How would Obama fare with the silent majority rising up like that, something so very rare even the drive-bys would take notice.
I would say if Rush, Sean, Mark, etc. had this great influence on the outcome of the election then they would be a threat to the Obamabots. With all Sean’s airing of Rev. Wright’s rantings, and his constant coverage of the Obama-Ayers connection, it doesn’t look like it mattered diddly-squat in the outcome of the election. We still got a Democratic controlled Congress in 2006. So let them speak.
Maybe Obama may surprise Ayres, Farrakhan and Wright who used him as tool to gain an entry into the White House.
THe office CAN change the man. It has in the past.
