From what I have read, the long form is not released by the state. The O camp released what is normally sufficient to prove birth, even for passports, etc.
You and James77 make good points: I’ve been watching this thread since last night.
All I can think of, is if Alan Keys has gotten involved, they must be aiming at something substantive.
Otherwise, you two have brought up sound answers.
Released to who? The low res images on the net are not sufficient to determine authenticity, even fairly crude alterations would not be all that easy to determine.
Plus the only places it's been released have been the Daily Kos, who had it first, and the Obama campaign's own "Fight the Smears" site, plus the Annenberg foundation's "factcheck.org". The Fact Check pictures were better, but still not good enough. They could have been much better, even with the cameras used. I could take better images. Spread the thing out flat, illuminate from above and slightly to one side, take photo from directly above. Then reverse lighting and camera, that is lighting directly above, camera above and to one side. Pick distance and lens such that the document fills the image in one dimension or the other. I'm just a dumb engineer, not a photographer. They were supposedly "journalists", who at least should have learned how to take photographs.
But when it came time to release it to a court, they argued "standing".
