“Hawaii Revised Statute 338-178 allows registration of birth in Hawaii for a child that was born outside of Hawaii to parents who, for a year preceding the child’s birth, claimed Hawaii as their place of residence,” the document said. “The only way to know where Senator Obama was actually born is to view Senator Obama’s original birth certificate from 1961 that shows the name of the hospital and the name and signature of the doctor that delivered him.”

Two questions here:

1. What is this "document" that is cited above?

2. Perhaps most importantly, the claim that "he doesn't have a birth certificate, he has a record of birth" in Hawaii seems to be wrong, as a matter of record (forgive the pun), given what Owen posted in 543, namely the article here: http://www.kitv.com/politics/17860890/detail.html?rss=hon&psp=news and the relevant quote,

"“Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate.

“Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures,” Fukino said.”

Onaka and Fukino specifically used the term "original Birth Certificate", and not "Certificate of Live Birth". How much more can anyone want? Why isn't this good enough?

What if the original birth certificate lists another father? Obama’s mother is unlikely to know exactly which black guy was the father.

No one ever stated that he does not possess a birth certificate. What Obama refuses to release is his original, long form birth certificate. Hawaii dept of health officials have only stated that he has a legitamate BC on file, but have stopped short of divulging any details of this document - namely the exact location, hospital, and any other amendments to this original document that could shed light with regards to his past Indonesion citizenship status. Furthermore, Hawaii dept of health officials CANNOT legally divulge any personal details to the public about any original long form BC on file. They have no such authority to question or inform with regards to someone’s elligibility to serve as POTUS. Only a court of law can request such info and make such judgements.
