There is no existant federal statute which requires a citizen to produce the vault copy of their birth certificate as opposed to the short form in order to verify “natural born” status.

There's no existent federal statute which specifically requires a citizen to produce any copy of their birth certificate to qualify for President, unfortunately.

But that wasn't your original argument.

You stated that Hawaii officials had verified the validity of the COLB that he has thus far presented as a digitized image on the web, and to a few employees of FactCheck who aren't document experts.

The Hawaii DOH officials didn't verify that COLB.

I was incorrect in stating that the place of birth wouldn't appear on the COLB, but since no experts (including the officials of the Hawaii DOH) have examined the COLB he's presented, we don't know if it's authentic.

It would be very simple for Obama to let that happen, but he hasn't. Thus the lawsuits, and the controversy.

The news reports that I have read of the Director of the Hawaii State Department of Health and the Hawaii Registrar of Vital Statistics addressing the issue did not state whether the question was asked and answered as to whether there is any difference between the information on the vault copy of Obama’s COLB and the version that has appeared on various web sites.

If those two state officials are asked to submit sworn affidavits for a legal proceeding on the COLBs issue, I’m willing to bet that question will be covered.
There is no relevant difference between a Hawaii long form COLB and a Hawaii short form COLB in terms of information on the Certificate that establishes place of birth and time of birth.
Here’s an image of a long form certificate from around that era:

From Obama’s legal counsels’ point of view, its the principle of the thing: the short form certificate is valid for establishing citizenship for every other Hawaii citizen. Their legal argument is why should Barack Hussein Obama Junior’s short form COLB be treated any differently?
Hawaii only allows release of copies of the short form COLB, even to the person named on the certificate.

None of us know what has already been presented to Bush administration officials for Obama’s security clearance to engage in his top secret briefings that have already begun with CIA and NSA officials.
