WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. intelligence agencies believe Osama bin Laden is isolated from al Qaeda and spending much of his energy merely surviving, the head of the CIA said on Thursday.

if they know this, why don’t they get him?

Yea, probably to be used as fueling the fire to stay in Afghanistan and go into Pakistan.

There were a lot of caves and caverns that al Qaida and the Taliban were hiding in, that have been collapsed by American ordnance. Thousands of tons of rubble are sitting on top of bone fragments that will probably never be uncovered, in about 100 different caves. Some of those bone fragments may contain the DNA of Osama bin Laden. There’s no way to know.

But if you ask an expert, you’ll learn that it’s pretty much impossible for bin laden to be alive. They’d have to keep moving him because we are actively searching for him. Also, he needs kidney dialysis on a regular basis. This means an ever expanding group of guards, car drivers, medical people, personal attendants and ordinary civilians who would need to have seen him.

All those people, and not one leak? Not likely.

Outstanding post.

I think history will clearly see it this way; after the dust settles that the media, Scary Reid, and others kicked up.

I’ve said this for at least four years.
Osama is dead. I remember only two incidents in the last
few years to support the idea that he was alive and still controlling activities in an important way. One was nothing more than an audiotape that
Intelligence said was “convincing” as to the sound of his voice, and the other was a laughable stop-action “video”
which showed a nearly motionless Osama babbling on in what was convincingly analyzed to be the voice of Adam Gadahn.
And then, four years ago, there was that statement that let us know that it didn’t really matter to him who won the Presidency. Of what purpose is it that our “Intelligence” outfits promulgate the idea
that he’s alive? Any ideas???
All we would have had to do OFFICIALLY (since neither I not FR can do it on our own) challenge him to show his face, and form, and voice, undoctored, un Photoshopped, etc. with a current newspaper in his hand to determine
whether he is alive or dead. Give him 30-45 days to do it.
If he doesn’t , let him know that there is a course of action we will take based on our conviction that he is dead. (If given the time, I could think of one.)But make it known that we want to see him, and negotiate with him. Ironically, at this point, only the new Administration would be empowered to do this> I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to score political points from this very loose end, as they will for everything, including the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, which will probably occur on a timetable further out into the future than the Bush plan. We MUST monitor their every BS spin cycle.

Perhaps you should understand what you’re ranting about. “Mission Acccomplished” was called b/c most of our allies refused to enter Iraq while “major combat operations” were on-going. Get a clue before you call others out.

Won’t that cause a massive collective stroke for the “anti-war” libs?

Probably not. A large portion of them are no more anti-war than they were "anti-Soviet nukes." They were just against the U.S. winning under a Republican.

Indeed. I really don't understand O's "I'm _REALLY_ gonna get Osama" stance, as surely anything that could be done has already been done. If an alleged warmonger running an active war for nearly 8 years can't get Osama, what is a sheep gonna do? Surely throwing more troops at the problem won't help - if it would, we would have. Finding one person isn't a matter of a massive military footprint, it's having the right few doing the job, which surely we already have underway.

Also, he needs kidney dialysis on a regular basis.

Incorrect - A MSM/web continued myth that was debunked by several Gov't OGAs (including our own) back in the late 90s.

Possitbly, with some evidence to suggest it so, UBL may be afflicted with Marfan syndrome, but that is unlikely to put him in the ground to prematurely.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama knows Osama. Me thinks he protests too much. Osama has been a has been for quite some time. Why would Obama act like he is so worried about him. That is not to say that with Obama’s help he could not reenter the world stage someday, even in a big way, maybe even reinvented like Ayers is going for. I heard that people are now cheering Ayers like he is some kind of rock star.

Well Joe Biden promised “mark my words” that OBama would face a huge challenge of some type within 6 months. Maybe they want OSama out there so that OBama can sent out the order to capture him, thereby making OBama look Presidential and getting rid of this OBama - OSama thing which is a daily reminder that what distinguishes one guy from the other is just BS.

As with taking down Saddam and his sons, I think it’s going to take someone in his circle to rat on him for us to be able to take him down. It seems to come down to actionable human intelligence, which apparently is difficult to obtain in certain parts of the world. I think whenever you’re looking for specific individuals, that’s what it takes...I have noticed this with Saddam and his sons, with Pablo Escobar, Noriega, and also with tracking down war criminals in Bosnia...you can find out where people have been, but where they’re going to be seems to be the challenge.
