After Taking Some Shots, She Fires Back
Washington Post ^ | November 13, 2008 | Howard Kurtz

Sarah Palin is fighting back against the "jerks."

Cooking moose chili and slicing sandwiches for Matt Lauer and Greta Van Susteren, chatting up Larry King and Wolf Blitzer, the Alaska governor is denying, deflecting and denouncing the worst her unnamed critics have thrown at her. She has called them "cruel," "mean-spirited" and "immature," renounced her designer wardrobe and insisted that she is not geographically challenged.

Again. And again. And again.

"She wants to rehabilitate her image and get everyone to love her again," says Larry Persily, a former Palin aide. "If I were advising her, say it once and then stop. You protest too much. You start to look a little foolish."

But Dan Schnur, who runs the University of Southern California's Institute of Politics, says the challenge is simple: "Feed the media beast or it's going to feed on you."

SP needs to put McCain behind her and pretty much forget he exists.

“During the campaign, Biden was largely hidden from the media, but the media never commented on that.
During the campaign, Palin made herself accessible to the media, but they pretended she did not.
Now that it's over, Palin is still accessible to the media, and they are complaining of her over-exposure.

But it's not like they're out to get her ...”

Its the same with Iraq. Now that we are turning things over to the natives, they are complaining that we are abandoning them.

You said — “To the greatest extent possible, I would like her to say that Campaign 2008 is over, she is leaving it behind, and talking about the future.”

She’s been doing that, but at the same time, I think she’s correcting all the false allegations and stupid information that has been put out about her.

Like here is one that was released by the New York Times showing that the “Africa is a country” comment was an elaborate HOAX pulled on the media (who never bothered following up on it).

Well, it has been followed up on — now and the story shows that it was a blogger’s hoax that was perpetrated in the MSM.

See — http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2131432/posts?page=21#21

And where that poster said the following about that HOAX (of Africa being a country, by Palin)...

“The frustrating thing is many people heard the info and now believe it’s true. I had a friend the other night (a dem of course) who told me that McCain was doing fine until he got Palen, but because of all of the proof that she was stupid and unfit for office came out, that’s why he lost.
This stuff will float around out there forever in people’s minds, and I fear she has been Quaylized.”

NOW..., this is what Sarah Palin needs to *hammer on* — for the future, so she can “innoculate” herself against future such stuff and make sure that everyone knows that it was a HOAX, and that other stuff from “anonymous sources” is very suspect.

I think she’s doing a good job of it from the interviews that I’ve seen...

Blaming ALL the lie, rumors, and innuendoes spewed into the MSM over the past weeks on Saul Alinsky and Obama operatives is disingenuous at best and stupid at worst.

There are enemies to Conservatism within the GOP, and if you bury your head in the sand and pretend otherwise, then we're all doomed to eight or more years of uncontrolled Socialism in this country.

“” I honor him. I love him. I believe that he is the best leader that we have in the nation right now, still, is John McCain. And I would have liked to have had more opportunity to be out there speaking on his behalf, of the attributes that — that he has, because he’s so humble he doesn’t do that himself.

If this is really sticking a knife into a political enemy, I’m sure Pelosi and Reid will be lining up to be stuck.”

I’m sure Gov. Palin is politically astute enough not to burn bridges indiscriminately for no possible gain.

Ok. My view is she believes what she said or she wouldn't have said it.

There's a difference between a not burning bridges comment and this. Huge difference.

how would it appear if on monday she is claiming that “john mccain is the best candidate for president” then declare on tuesday that he is a no good RINO?

She could have simply said John was a good man for the ticket and stopped at that. She went way, way, way beyond that.

McCain isn't a no good RINO. He may not be conservatives dictionary picture of a conservative, but there are probably areas Mike Pence comes up short.

But Governor Palin said without reservation that McCain is the best leader we have in the nation without the question being asked what is your view of Senator McCain. It was whether she perceived she was being muzzled and her reply was that she wanted to let everyone know about the best leader in the nation. Seemed pretty unequivocal.

It's easy to say nice things without saying nice things you don't believe in; or then again maybe she does.

Being a Christian would likely mean she wouldn't lie.

Here's the very definition of stupid: Wasting energy and goodwill by forming a circular firing squad to “cleanse” the GOP while we have a Marxist cabal undermining our cause with impunity.

Tell ya what: I'll fight the Obama Dirty Tricks & Psy-Op squad, you fight the imaginary GOP boogey men. That way we'll have the most talent applied to the most urgent need.

{BTW, the Africa story has now been debunked and retracted. When do the “evil” McCain team “insiders” receive the apology they're due for having been falsely accused of being responsible for it?}

But you seem to be implying that some other approach, any other approach, would be relatively easy and would work infinitely well. That’s where we part company.

When did I imply that?

You're imagining things. Never said it or implied it, because I don't believe it.

Was reading your posts to get the hang of you, and enjoying your point of view.

Just one comment, PSYOP is spelled all caps and no hyphen, at least by all the soldiers in PSYOP units that I’ve emailed and sent care packages to...

I think your dad is right. I felt the same way...Washington insiders in both parties did not want Sarah to win. She would have brought too much change to their corrupt ways.

Sad. This country is in a strangle-hold by elites on both sides. They have the money and the power. Don’t know if it will ever change. They control the media too and will manipulate the masses.
