Doug, sorry pards, I’ve tried all of them and nothing beats the good’ol (simple) Colt Series 70 1911 .45 ACP
To: doug from upland
Does it have a 21st century price?

Sorry Doug, make mine a Glock-21SF-that is. Still the Springfield is a nice weapon and it has a sterling rep. Also like the H&K Tacticals, but found the grip on the .45 a little large.
May your Christmas be a Springfield Christmas:)

I got a XD40. Looking at a SOCOM II currently.
Springfield makes some awesome firearms.
On that note, a dealer told me that Springfield rifles will be the first to go under the AWB because they are made with military grade parts.

Good weapon.
But Glock is much better.

I’ve owned the 4” XD-9 Bi-tone for a few years. It’s my favorite cold-weather CCW. If I could conceal it better in warm weather it would be my all-year CCW.

When will it come out in a real cartridge, like a 40 S&W?

Not to knock it but I will just stay with my Browning Hi-Power and Colt .45. No need for me to rearm.
For someone who has no handguns it might be worth a look.

I would vote for common, as in something with a market presence at this time — The coming age of Obamunism is not likely to be friendly to new pistol designs with little market presence for parts and magazines from here on.
Seems like an elegant design with plenty of very good features. But — Timing is everything.

My brother has one in .45ACP. I was pleasantly surprised at how softly such a light pistol shoots at the range. I’m planning on one soon.

I have an XD9 full size. It’s a good shooter and comfortable but I still prefer my 1911’s.

They are good pistols but you absolutely need a good rifle too.

I would take a moment if I were you and seriously take a look at the Smith & Wesson M&P line of auto loading pistols if an auto loader is what you want. A family member of mine was a part of a T&E squad for the new JSOC pistol that later got canceled. (Even though this competition was for a .45acp pistol I would think the criteria is applicable to other calibers.) He stated that the HK45 and S&W M&P45 were the favorites with the slight nod going towards the HK offering. The Smith & Wesson M&P9 is a highly regarded pistol by several people whose expertise and ability I greatly respect and admire. Smith and Wesson is currently offering a $50 rebate or 2 free magazine offer before the end of the year. Good luck with whatever you choose to go with! S&W Rebate

I picked up a 4”XD in .45ACP with 3-13rd mags and a holster for $375 a while back. For me the grip angle is better than the Glock 21. Nice thing about the XD is that it has standard rifling, so you can shoot cast lead reloads whereas with a Glock it is not a good idea because of the polygonal rifling. Also the slide finish issues that Springfield had with the early XD9s and XD 40s was corrected before the first XD45 left the factory.
