Everyone should do a little checking to see if “voluntary” service is not ALREADY required of high school students who want a diploma in hand (which is necessary for college).
The poet wrote that the world would end not with a bang but a whimper. I firmly believe freedom in America will end not with a bang, but a whine.
Resisting service is as ridiculous as buying more guns and ammo; nothing more than keyboard bluster. You pay taxes under duress. You put your child in public school. You pay for car insurance whether you like it or not.
Your chains are already ON. If you don’t exercise your “freedom,” you don’t feel your chains. But try to move, and notice that if you behave like a free American, your employer will be pressured to pressure you; your school district can threaten you, take your child, and haul you into court; you can’t move very far without your car or your driver’s license. There are innumerable things the government can do to bankrupt you, ruin you, and destroy your family, effortlessly. Your neighbors will sympathize, privately, but that’s all they dare do.
And so, if your child is conscripted, your child will serve. If your guns are banned, your guns will be surrendered. Whatever 0bamanation demands, you will oblige. You don’t want to lose your house, car, income, pension, kids, friends, reputation...do you?
So come along quietly. After all, you have been coming along quietly all your life.
Well said and prophetic.
People who are going to stay in the country need to consider moving to more isolated places with harsher weather conditions and concentrate on survival and keeping a low profile. Keep income low. Withdraw assets and invest in self-sufficiency. Teach your children well. The resistance that will come is going to need support.
I think of it as caches of individualism. We will find each other.
Indeed.
You can’t work for someone without a SSN.
You can’t bank without an SSN.
Many basic utilities require a SSN.
You can’t drive on public roads without a license.
You can’t drive a car on public roads without licensing the car (even if, as in most of GA, absolutely no maintenance/certification/inspection is required other than licensing fee).
You can’t buy a cell phone without a SSN.
You can’t fly without a passport or similar ID.
You can’t take a long-haul train without a passport or similar ID.
You can’t keep your own land if you don’t pay annual taxes on it.
OK, there are a FEW exceptions to each of these.
You can run a business without a SSN. Maybe.
You can drive, without a license, an unlicenced car, without insurance, on your own land - if you have that much land. BFD.
You can travel long-haul without a license. On foot or bicycle.
Whatever you do to avoid such restrictions will most likely obligate someone else to vouch for you (they providing the restrictions), or will be so petty in society as to render you impotent therein.
For years conscripted "community service" has been required for all students in High School that are on accelerated programs to prepare them for college.
Now the low achievers will be doing it also.
