Rumor Patrol: Romney Camp Spreading Palin Stories?
07 Nov 2008 06:07 pm
Rumor: Aides and advisers to Mitt Romney are responsible for spreading most of the anti-Palin stories that have been going around; during the campaign, they pressured reporters to look into reports of tension between McCain and Palin factions.

And who believes the Atlantic anyway?
this whole thing is bull. and we keep adding fuel to the fire.
Mitt is scum. Actually his lot is what gives scum a bad name.
The rumors that the rumors about Palin
were started by Romney
have been proven to be just rumors.
At first I thought MAYBE its Romney trying to knock Palin out...BUT than, i thought, Maybe its someone who doesn’t like Romney very much trying to Frame him???
Im so confused!!!!
I really thought that Romney was the best person to lead the Republicans in 2008....I am now a Jindal fan for 2012....
I saw this days ago, and thought of posting it. It’s a good think piece.
Mitt, Huck,Rudy are done. Too old. The near neigh top GOP/RNC have to be done away with.
As you know the GOP is a very wait your turn party, giving us such grinders as Nixon, time servers like Ford, HW and HW ver 2.0, GW. Reagan and Palin are outliers, and the courtiers, minions, staff...the Cardinals of the GOP don’t like people not approved by them.
It’s kind of like a gay mafia of staff. Bitchy, back stabbing, prissy.
I could well believe that Mitt is just convenient fall guy.
Anyways, conservative are going to come from someone under fifty, and as I have said for a year, for Mormons and true conservatives, give a look to Jeff Flake.
Romney had no part in these smears against Palin.
Not only is he not that vindictive, Romney has no motive.
These anti-Palin smears were (are) being made by McCain aids who couldn’t stand the thought that Palin was more popular than THEIR geezer boring Democrat leaning candidate.
In mid September, Palin expressed a strong desire to go after Obama with both barrels.
McCain’s wimp ass aids nixed the idea, and the relationship between the two camps went downhill from there.
Palin also purportedly advised McCain to vote AGAINST that idiotic bailout, which further caused the two camps to fight.
What the heck did McCain expect. You can’t put two headstrong candidates together and expect one to lay down for the other.
McCain was so enamored of his status as a “maverick” that he grew increasingly jealous when Palin turned out to be even MORE of a maverick than him.
McCain had convinced himself that the national press would eventually come to his side. They always had before, so why not now.
When it failed to happen, the McCain aids lashed out at the nearest target.... Sarah Palin.
Yes, and it has to come to an end.
Romney: McCain camp should have provided more access to Palin
By Jeremy P. Jacobs, PolitickerMA.com Reporter
Former Gov. Mitt Romney said Monday that the McCain campaign’s reluctance to make vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin available to the press has been a strategic error.
During an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” the Belmont Republican was asked whether the Alaska governor’s recent interviews were bringing down the GOP ticket. Conservative syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker wrote last week that Palin should step down as McCain’s running mate.
Romney did not say whether Palin was hurting the GOP’s chances. He did, however, criticize the McCain campaign’s media strategy.
“Holding Sarah Palin to just three interviews and microscopically focusing on each interview I think has been a mistake,” Romney said. “I think they’d be a lot wiser to let Sarah Palin be Sarah Palin. Let her talk to the media, let her talk to people.”
Palin’s limited availability to the press has been repeatedly criticized by Democrats.
Romney, who was on McCain’s running mate short list, said that, ultimately, Palin’s “maverick” credentials will boost the GOP ticket in November.
“Look she wasn’t selected by John McCain because she’s an expert on foreign policy; John McCain’s the expert on foreign policy,” Romney said. “She was selected because she’s a maverick. She’s a person who identified with people in homes across America...She’s an executive and a governor, and that brings a lot to John McCain’s ticket.”
Can you believe this cabal of Romney haters is STILL going after him .... a week after Obama was crowned king of America.
Now THAT is the definition of true obsessive hatred.
Indeed. And neither of them have said that they want to run in 2012. This whole thing is nothing but childish party infighting.
Guess what: I’ll never trust Romney-He’s a R I N O !
Jindal was overheard saying Sarah’s mom wears army boots. Not that there’s anything wrong with wearing army boots.
Mitt hasn’t been convicted. You and yours are perpetrating the EXACT thing that was done to Sarah.... NO sources, just you guess. BTW, it is interesting to see you post without reading the article.
I personally believe Romney is behind this, but even if he is not, he is not a conservative.
Romney signed gov’t healthcare.
Romney signed gay marriage.
Romney attacked the Boy Scouts.
Mitt Romney does not have a future in the GOP with me.
“Romney is a liberal pro-abortion big government healthcare flip-flopper. Look at the Romneycare crap he on Massachussetts. Willard will tell anyone anything to get elected. Hes a liar.”
You were writing the same things during the Primaries. Your insights didn’t impress me then or now.
I think that’s a little over the top.
