The Vultures Circle
New York Post ^ | November 10, 2008 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 11/10/2008 6:47:43 AM PST by Truth29

THE American people have spoken, and whatever our personal preferences, our duty as citizens is to support our next president. And he's going to need support: The international vultures are already circling.

(snip)

He's going to have to show some Southside Chicago street grit. Fast. Our enemies haven't wasted any time.

(snip)

In a direct challenge to our president-elect, Medvedev announced that Russia would deploy its latest-generation battlefield missiles to the Kaliningrad exclave between Lithuania and Poland. The Russian president made it clear that the target would be the US ballistic-missile interceptors to be based on Polish soil.

(snip)

President Obama isn't going to enjoy a honeymoon with terrorists, rogue states or opportunistic vultures around the globe. He'll have to establish his leadership credentials immediately, to make it clear that he's America's president, not our liquidator-in-chief. What could he do to help himself? Three things:

* First, make it clear to all that while America is willing to talk with serious counterparts, we'll expect results, not endless obfuscation.

* Second, beg Secretary Gates to stay on at the Pentagon for at least the first year of transition.

* Third, Obama should nominate that brilliant thug, Richard Holbrooke, as secretary of State. Holbrooke may be the most arrogant man ever to serve in our diplomatic corps (where arrogance has long substituted for competence). But he's also tough, superbly capable and the savviest star in the Democratic constellation when it comes to global affairs.

If Obama wants to project an idealist's image to the world, he's going to need a realist at Foggy Bottom. And someone's going to have to clean up Vice President Joe Biden's inevitable messes. The next four years are going to be interesting.

Yeah, the next four years are going to be interesting for us, and fruitful for our enemies.

If Obama had won fair and square, I might be inclined to support him. But considering the overwhelming number of illegal campaign donations, ACORN, the lies about Obama’s past associations and beliefs, and the fact that Obama, himself, has contempt for our system and will break it down whenever it suits his purposes, I don’t feel the slightest bit of allegiance to him.

The Affirmative Action President can expect my support in the unlikely event that he is providing for the common defense or otherwise acting within the Constitution. Otherwise, he can expect the maximum legal level of opposition to his thuggish communist policies.

Right now I will support him with tough love.

Not a problem. The One has already “advised both sides to show restraint.”

Please do not sink to the Left’s level of racial attacks. Freepers are better than that.

He’s as much white as he is black. Which is why I can’t see the big deal about this “historic” nonsense.

You mean the way the left supported Bush during the rough times? No problem.

In a Chinese curse manner: May you live in interesting times...

Obama is the country's president and as such, I hope for the best for all of us. That means, I support him when he does the right things. If he does, things will turn out alright regardless of who supports him. If he chooses not to do the right things, it will go poorly for him and for the country and I can't mouth support and say phrases like "he's my president."

However, should he experience an awakening and act with wisdom and insight while governing, we will see America rebound and we and the world will do very well on all levels, physical, mental, spiritual and beyond. Now that he's president to be, I pray for his awakening from the path he promises to take us down. My president would know not to take that path. It's obvious where it leads.

"THE American people have spoken, and whatever our personal preferences, our duty as citizens is to support our next president.

No we don't, we didn't elect him, the NYT's and othee MSM did through biased opinion, vicious attacks on opposition candidates, and the witholding of information regarding Obama's backround to keep the public missinformed. In otherwords, Obama is a fraudulantly elected President elect, who still hasn't provided an orgininal birth certificate proving he is a citizen of the united states thereby meeting the conditions required by the LAW OF THIS LAND to hold the position of POTUS. Until he does, Obama is an usuper, and either he immediately produces the required documents, which normally would be a simple task for a legitimate candidate, but Obama's unwillingness to do so suggests it is not so simple a task for him, proving by default of action on his part that he does NOT meet the requirements required by the LAWS OF THIS LAND. We either UPHOLD these laws, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, or there is no law of this land at all.

Stop paying your taxes people. The rule of law doesn't seem to apply.

I wish the author would show me in the constitution where it says I am required to support a marxist baby killer.

Support for what? His Marxist economic and social policies? His one worldism? His cutbacks on anti-missile defences? Whatever happened to the concept of the loyal opposition?

"Yeah, the next four years are going to be interesting for us, and fruitful for our enemies."

Yes, Obama's response to advice like this and the predators of the world could be along the lines of: Cancel the agreements with Poland and the Czech Republic - problem solved. Stop defending Georgia and The Ukraine and urging NATO membership - problem solved. Agree to talks with Iran and talk endlessly while just ignoring their nuclear weapons program - problem postponed. Sit down with Hugo Chavez and hail US/Venezuelan common Marxist goals and accomplishments - problem solved. etc. etc. sarcasm tag - I hope.
