The Republicans have let us down for a long, long time. Bush increased the size of the federal government more than LBJ. We need to break the grip of the two party system - it is destroying this country. Libertarian, Constituionalist, we need more political parties.

That was disgusting. We had a Republican president and six years of a Republican congress and saw one of the worst orgies of spending in history. One reason we lost is because those who value fiscal conservatism no longer saw the party as a fiscally respoinsible party and for good reason. We acted like Dems when it came to spending.

That is a recipe for keeping DemonRATs in power forever.
The only reason that Clintoon was elected to begin with was due to splintered votes for a third candidate. Indirectly, Clinton was a lot like Obama, long on talk and short on good ideas. Gingrich took advantage of that situation and swept the house and senate two years later by selling a package to the American people. Unfortunately, many of the people swept into office became drunk with Washington power, and sold us down the drain. The GOP has to be the vehicle for “real change” in America. It needs to be given an enema, and forced to swallow some bitter medicine before it becomes healthy, but the patient will emerge stronger.

“Libertarian, Constituionalist, we need more political parties.”

So said George Wallace, John Anderson, Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, Pat Buchanan, Harry Browne...to name the most successful.

Exactly. Or we'll have more Communists running as 'Democrats', and unending and by now lame complaints about RINOs. The two parties whose only hard core principles are mom and apple pie are as you say destroying this country.

More parties is a bad idea. Look what Ross Perot did to us.

You are a conservative living in Austin? How do you manage that?
