Thanks for the kind words, and ALL
your comprehensive work. I’ll get
over this in time ... I always suffer
a big hurt very deeply and physically
for awhile.

I had my cry in, of all places, Church
this am. The sadness just suddenly
overwhelmed me. I do fear for our
country, but I know God is in charge.
For whatever His reasons, this was
the plan.

I prayed for the humility to accept
His will.

His replacement will be appointed ..
or coronated by the governor.

There has been buzz about JJacksonJr.

I have, at times, found it almost hard to breath.

So did I. I did not any shed tears this week until the end of Mass today, and then I was just overwhelmed with depression. Of course, the collapse of a very frail, blind old man who never misses Sunday Mass, as he was being wheeled out the side door after Communion, seemed like such a metaphor for our country’s fragility now. The dear soul, always so dignified in his demeanor, ended up on the floor, waiting for the EMTs to arrive.

From our outgoing President's first inaugural address

After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: "We know the Race is not to the swift nor the Battle to the Strong. Do you not think an Angel rides in the Whirlwind and directs this Storm?"

Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inaugural. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage, and its simple dream of dignity.

We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his purpose. Yet his purpose is achieved in our duty; and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.

Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today: to make our country more just and generous; to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.

This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.

I dearly love that man and feel that he was exactly the President we needed for this time andthat, eventually, he wil be ranked among our greatest Presidents. After a few months of Obama I think most people will be looking at Bush with nostalgic affection.
