RUN THOSE PRINTING PRESSES: Democratic Governors Want $1 Trillion.

OH, GOODY: 111th Congress Convenes Monday: Let the Games Begin.
Games, clown show, whatever.
OUCH: Greedy Executives Double Salaries, Cut Customer Service, May Ask for a Bailout. No, its not the latest Wall Street failure. Its D.C.s Metro public transportation system.
IN TIME MAGAZINE, the Top Ten Outrageous Earmarks of 2009. Number Two is the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service, funded by, er, Charles B. Rangel, in a fashion that gave rise to scandal. Extreme Mortman says this is evidence of why the U.S. Government needs a Department of Irony. Dont give em ideas; theyll want to name it after themselves.
THE BLAGO VORTEX: Really, its fascinating how one crooked state pol can ensnare both the new presidential administration and Congress. The Obama team is lawyering up, the Senate will be sued, and the grand jury in Illinois will spend months reeling in more witnesses who, in turn, may implicate still more politicians. Its hard to recall a single figure who has caused as much consternation and litigation.
UPDATE: Some Roland Burris gun hypocrisy.

Washington Post Hires Leftist Blogger
January 2nd, 2009From the Politico:
Sign of the media times
by Ben Smith
January 2, 2009
The Washington Post just hired away from the reporting-heavy liberal blog empire TPM, to run a new blog for them.
Gregs move is both a reminder of how the new liberal reporting infrastructure TPM and Huffpo, in particular were as much competitors as any newspaper in breaking news this cycle; and a sign of how porous the barriers, which used to be fairly substantial, between "MSM" and "blogopshere" (and, for that matter, political campaigns and advocacy groups) have become. Way back in 2003, I replaced Greg on the very print-y New York Observers City Hall beat, and I suspect his variety of career path, which ran via a newspaper, a magazine, an ideological online outfit, and an old-media monolith, is going to become far more common as time goes on.
And, congrats.
Anybody who has ever had the misfortune to happen upon the Talking Points Memo site knows their talking points come directly from the Democrat National Committee.
They dont even pretend otherwise.
Gregs move is both a reminder of how the new liberal reporting infrastructure TPM and Huffpo, in particular were as much competitors as any newspaper in breaking news this cycle
Can anyone recall when any news was actually broken by any liberal blogs, including the TPM or Zsa Zsas Huffington Post?
We cant either.
But how telling it is in an era when newspapers are downsizing furiously that the Washington Post still cannot resist hiring someone from the ultra left.
Though, in fairness, the Washington Post may simply be following orders from their bosses at the DNC.
Still, its hardly a sign of the media times. This is what the mainstream media has been doing for generations.
And they wonder why they are losing readers.
Top 10 Mis-Reported Stories Of 2008
January 1st, 2009We thought we would list what in our opinion were the most egregiously mis-reported stories over the last year:
1. The US victory in Iraq
Given that this was to be the burning issue of the campaign, it is quite telling that our watchdog media has assiduously ignored our militarys brilliant victory in the Iraq War.
And somehow all the pundits and their Democrat bosses were wrong.
2. The Democrats involvement in the mortgage crisis
Barney Frank and countless other Democrats going back to the Carter administration insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lend to those who would not otherwise be eligible for mortgages.
These same Democrats ignored all the warnings to the contrary over the ensuing years. And now they want to bail the deadbeats out and give more loans to those who cant afford them.
3. Barack Obamas socialist vision for the US
Mr. Obama has long since been clear in his writing and speeches that he wants a new New Deal for the US. He has not been shy about his socialist plans for our country. But we never heard a word about any of this from our issues-oriented media.
And now Mr. Obama is gleefully planning to seize upon the countrys current financial difficulties to enact his radical agenda.
4. ACORN/Project Vote/SEIU voter fraud
Yes, there were some scattered reports about ACORNs voter registration problems in the local media around the country. But these accounts regularly gave the impression that these were merely minor irregularities, and the exception rather than the rule.
In fact, 2008 surely witnessed more organized voter fraud than at any other time in the history of the Republic. (Al Franken just being one of its many by products.) And yet the very same journalists who were determined to prove that Mr. Bush stole the last two elections were not interested in reporting this rampant voter fraud.
5. Mr. Obamas international money machine
How is it that the Obama campaign raised more than three quarters of a billion dollars? And how is it that so much of that money came in packets small enough to avoid any FEC scrutiny? And from all around the globe?
Somehow our watchdog media, which has complained endlessly about the buying of elections whenever Republicans win, are not interested in finding out.
6. Obamas Spiritual Mentor, Reverend Wright
Again, Rev. Wright got some play in 2008, but we had the story back at the start of 2007. Worse yet, the media pretended that Wright was just given to occasional crazy outbursts.
The fact is, however, Obamas church of twenty years is dedicated to promulgating the racist Communist kookery of Black Liberation Theology. What does that say about the man?
7. The Chicago Machine, Rezko and Blagojevich
Our watchdog media studiously ignored any questions about Mr. Obamas background or his connections to Tony Rezko and the myriad of other shady figures from Chicago.
During the campaign Obama was asked only once about Mr. Rezko, and even then he stormed out of the press conference. We now know why the media had their own policy of dont ask dont tell.
8. The excoriation of Sarah Palin
The troopergate scandal that wasnt. The clothes buying scandal that wasnt. The quotes she never said. Her purported lack of qualifications in the age of Obama, Hillary and Caroline.
All done by the same media that claims to condemn the politics of personal destruction.
9. The cooling of global warming
Average temperatures have trended downward now for several years all around the globe. And yet we have barely heard a peep about it from our watchdog media.
In fact, we have heard quite the opposite as they continue to promote the climate change hysteria.
10. Obamas extended family
Forget the birth certificate red herring. Our watchdog media has shown no interest whatsoever in tracking down the extended family Mr. Obama so much liked to write about. It turns out that several of them are living illegally and on welfare in the US.
Which just further demonstrates how very little we know about the man. And how little the media is interested in finding anything out.
Tinfoil Bonus Crashing the economy to elect Obama
It is a fact that once Mr. McCain began to pull ahead in the polls, Mr. Schumer started the run on banks (IndyMac) and then Mr. Reid undermined a crucial financial insurer (AIG).
If this, as well as the rise in oil prices, is found to have been contrived to get their candidates elected, this will be the story of the decade.
But only if some journalists bother to report it. Which is highly unlikely.
Of course there were many other mis-reported or under-reported stories.
Please feel free to add your own.
