The View's conservative cutie Elisabeth Hasselbeck stunned viewers today by throwing her support behind president-elect Barack Obama. Executive Producer Barbara Walters asked Hasselbeck, who campaigned with John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin, how she felt after seeing McCain/Palin go down to defeat on election night. Hasselbeck said her daughter Grace, 3, had asked her who won and who lost the election. "No one lost," Hasselbeck said she told her child. "Seriously, today is a victory for this country." Hasselbeck said the massive voter turnout and the excitement of the presidential contest inspired her. "I will get in a long line of supporters
for this president," she said.

I wish that I could support our new president. The fact that he is the first black president should be a reason to be proud of our country, but, I cannot support this man, yet. There are way too many unanswered, disturbing questions that surround him. If he proves that he is not going to govern from the far left I could support him, but, that remains to be seen. I am concerned about the citizens of our country electing a man based on his skin color and vacuous platitudes spoken with a commanding voice while completely ignoring the valid concerns that conservatives tried their best to get people to take seriously. Intentional ignorance is the main problem in this country. Our work is really cut out for us.
Good point. As Rush says, ignorance is our most costly commodity.
I would have said that if it were John Kerry, or even Hillary Clinton. But Barack Obama? No. Not someone who thinks the fundamental principles of our nation are wrong, like the Constitution.
And a fraud too.
Hannity and Levin will fall turn to the dark side either.
She said that the election of Obama is "a victory for our nation." Do you agree with her? If so, you're out of your freaking mind.
“The question is, WHY are the Republicans so weak?”
Not all of them are. Hasselbeck was chosen precisely because she is weak. She can give the illusion of balance, without ever being able to muster the best arguments in favor of the conservative position. She is the kind of “conservative” who is usually chosen by the liberal media to represent our side.
If a woman like Ann Coulter or Laura Ingraham were on The View, she would mop up the floor with the rest of those liberal idiots. But they would never choose a woman that smart to represent the opposition.
If Hitler had a willing media pushing him he would have probably done even better. Don't fall for that moral equivalency crap. Obama is evil. Anyone who supports going even beyond partial birth abortion can only be called that and completely legitimately.
Hannity and Levin will NEVER NEVER turn to the dark side either. Wheww!
Hey, they've had to put up with so many of our our "Marxism/Socialism" Whites for so long, it's about time we had to deal with one of their pain-in-the-butts too, don't you think?
Right on! That's just what Hasselbeck was doing; showing real class. I'm shaking my head here, as I'm sure you are as well. Some Freepers need to grow up.
“Agreed. This is the process. We can be unhappy with the outcome but now is the time for us to show people how the minority party SHOULD behave. And while we are being civil, we should be working as hard as we can behind the scenes to restore the GOP party to Reagan days...”
I’m sick of being the spineless conservatives because it’s better to be this way for principles, blah blah blah
Haven’t any of you figured out that exact mentality is the reason McCain lost? No mentioning Hussein, no mentioning Ayers, no mentioning Wright... to be the ‘bigger man’.
Bull. That line of thinking gets us nothing but communism IMO.
Oh, heck no. I didn’t read the article.
She said that?
Calling her a fraud only makes us look petty and foolish. If she was a political operative or politician, it would be different. She's not.
I know. Why can’t a Herman Cain or Ken Blackwell type be the first one?
Was that story about the Ambassador’s opinion of him big over there? The one about him being arrogant and dangerous?
Sorry but after listening to the last 8 years of the liberal’s attacks against all of us I’m counting the days until I can put my “Don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for him” bumper sticker on. I probably won’t have to wait too long after Jan 20th to do it!
I think that any peaceful transfer of power, any time that we over come the hideous brutality of racism, any time that we are free to vote for who we want, we have victory.
:^)
I was going to say Hannity, but don’t have opportunity to listen to him much. I hope he and Levin stay with us, ‘cause I sure ain’t gettin’ on that bandwagon myself and I’ll need somebody I can listen to.
Then if true how can she label herself a CONSERVATIVE. This is the most left of center RADICAL candidate to ever run for President of the US.
She’s a smart person. Obama hasn’t done anything yet, so she can say she supports him. As soon as he makes the wrong move, I would bet she pounds him. (I hope.)
