News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

I’ve been looking around and haven’t found any yet. We need to find their regular ones and post them everywhere. I’ll send something to the ones you provide and see if they bounce back.

If anyone knows where they live, post their damn home addresses! These people are scum and deserve to be treated as such. We should enlist the Obamabats, they are good at attacking.

“Any newbies that immediately start attacking the Pubs is suspect. Especially with all the online Obot imposters during the recent election season. If your FRiend can’t handle the heat, he definitely needs to get out of the kitchen! However, if what you say is so, then I’m sure he’ll come up to speed right quick. :-)”

Maybe you’re confusing some of my posts with others, who have made some unsavory comments.

Your post, on the other hand, made accusations and were a bit insulting (BO Brownshirt? Please). Disagreeing with someone is fine - I can take that heat all day, and will quickly admit and apologize when I’m wrong (as the folks who know me will attest).

Thanks Hoss, for the kind words.

The RNC is dead! All idiots connected with the RNC and the campaign should never be hired again, except by the democrats – but then they’re too smart.

I sat there through 3 debates yelling at the TV – “don’t let that liar get away with promising 95% of the people a tax cut” – yet McCain just sat there and let him sell it to the millions watching. That was the beginning of the end…

Why was this such a big deal? I got on the Obama website and signed up to do phone calling. The script to be read for phone calling was “Barack Obama is the only candidate that will give 95% of the people a tax cut. That’s what we need.”

Other than Bush, that was their entire campaign. A little opposition research would have gone a long way!

Of course I called the names from the Obama site and said “I got your name from the Obama website and I am supposed to say Barack Obama is the only candidate that will give 95% of the people a tax cut, but I can’t because it is a lie.” Without exception, everyone believed the 95% line, but I did get several of them to check it out.

Two days later a guy from the Obama phone bank called me and ask how I was doing – and how pleased they were to have a registered republican supporting Obama – well, of course, I let him have it – telling him that, among other things, obama was a liar with his 95% crap – the poor guy really believed the lie and argued – and after a half hour I excused myself – and he promised to check it out – this poor guy really choked on his Kool-Aid.

A few days later I received a very nice letter and a bumper sticker. They were organized – of course the extra money helped – but when you’re fighting unethical people, you simply cannot let them run over you. The majority of republican male Senators have lace on their shorts – and very few have a backbone.

In the early eighties I wrote a computer program for the State of Washington that was far more sophisticated that what the RNC used 25 years later. For example you had to make LOCAL phone calls for the phone bank which was impossible since all mine were an average of 500 miles away. A simple match of area codes and prefix would have solved their problem – not to mention the jumbled up mess they used for their walking lists. Of course the state party in the early eighties (headed by the future congresswoman Jennifer Dunn) was more interested in getting contributions and throwing expensive parties for the ‘in crowd’. That year they sent out via snail mail a letter for contributions where one was to check off the percentage of their contribution to go to each candidate listed. None of the candidates got the money – it went to pay their huge salaries – that, my friends, is mail fraud.

In addition, that year we, personally, received numerous expensive pieces of mail – up to 5 a day (at that time they sent out gold leaf cards asking for contributions). I called the RNC to offer my help in eliminating duplicates to save them a considerable about of money and they told me they didn’t care how much money they wasted, all they wanted was for people to send $1, as they would then be committed.

This year they talked about the strong ground game in Florida – let me tell you the truth. There was no ground game. I had to drive an hour to pick up phone lists – I walked into this hole-in-the-wall where about 10 women were sitting around in the ‘waiting’ room visiting (Lord only knows what they were ‘waiting’ for) They steered me to the head of the phone banks – an elderly man with an Alaskan cap on – thinking he might be a fan of Sarah, I mentioned it to him. He didn’t seem to know who I was talking about, but bragged about all the Romney signs he had put out (this was late October). I gave up on the phone calling because most of the numbers were in Miami and I couldn’t understand them. So then, my daughter and I, together with my little grandson, decided to do the walking thingy – so, again we traveled another hour to the hole-in-the-wall to pick up the door hangers. I had left my purse in the car and ask if the buttons were free – no they were $1 and I ask if they could deduct it from the $100 I gave – no because the RPOF was separate from the RNC. But they did invite us to a party that evening at the club house (actually 2 blocks from my home). We ask them if anyone needed rides to the polls and they wrote our name and phone number on the back of an envelop along with that of another interested volunteer. (Of course no one ever called…)
We set out in my golf cart trying to follow the randomly listed walking list - and finally gave up on that too. Then we decided to go out at night and hang the door hangers – we did about 500. During this exercise we went back and forth to the clubhouse ‘party’ to pick up more supplies – a grand spread (estimated cost several thousand dollars). They were going to do phone calling, but when we stopped in for the last batch of door hangers – they were still eating and drinking… This was the night before the election…. I’m sure there were lots of frustrated volunteers ready to work – but the local organizations are sadly lacking…

The very dumbest thing about the mccain website was that they had no “contact us” form. They should have had volunteers monitoring the contacts, if for no other reason than to make people feel like they are really part of something – and to scan for any important information that might come in – like the obama phone bank (above).

Anyway – fire them all – Sarah needs a loyal group to work with!

Thanks to anyone who read all this mess! GretchenB

I like your style, lovesdogs! A swift kick in the click-clacks would serve them well. I’d gladly let them keep my $$$ for that same opportunity.

I provided my name, address, and phone number in the email to Susan. She didn’t ask for any more information, so I’m assuming that’s enough.

It just goes to show that McCain really is the POS everyone who couldn’t stand him said he was, all along.

This is about staffers - not McCain.

HEY FNC....
Have you noticed your viewership plummeting??? I haven’t turned you on since Tuesday night. Continue to trash your conservative audience by disrespecting Sarah Palin and you’ll be out of business entirely.
In your efforts to remain fair and balanced you resort to promoting lies.
I have lost all respect for you.

BS. He bought the election.

That's correct. When you're outspent 8 to 1, as McCain was, it's not a difference in ideas - it's a difference in canvassers, get out the vote workers, advertisements, and so on. I think a lot of McCain's ideas were not conservative enough. But they were definitely better than Obama's. The problem is that he had no money with which to make his case.

8 to 1 is why McCain lost. You can go on and on about the power of good ideas. But the fact is - you don't win unless your ideas get traction. That's where TV ads and paid staff come in - and they don't work for free. If the power of conservative ideas was self-evident, the Democratic party would have been extinct a long time ago, and Communism would have aborted before it ever took hold in a single country. Show me a guy who gets outspent 8 to 1 and I'll show you a loser. Nobody wants to hear it - not the media, who think the Messiah's message sold itself or conservatives, who think McCain's message was horrible because they disagree with it - but I'll say it anyway - 8 to 1.

Money was not the entire problem - it was gross incompetence. It doesn’t take money to have a decent website and the backend programming to provide good phone bank and walking lists and a ‘contact us’ form. The Republicans are just a mess - and I’ve been one since birth (70 years).
See my post #426 above - I spent hours on the phone trying to find what we could do to volunteer - with promised call backs that never happened.

See my post All American Teachers Should Be Fired Immediately for something to bash the flamers over the head with. It's really quite simple - this is a vile and evil lie.

I know everyone here wants to throw McCain under the bus, but if you read the article, Kerri is attacking McCain's campaign staffers, and not McCain himself. This is quite deliberate and unmistakable. In fact, she specifically says

The principal himself, John McCain, was a far better candidate then the quality of his campaign would indicate.

McCain needs to rebuke the staffer and come down solidly for Palin, but to attack McCain without giving him the opportunity to speak on this outrage is premature and disrespectful.

I think you will find that the more money you have, the more competent you are. More money means you can cover more bases. The little guy - in money terms - occasionally wins. But the dirty little secret is that guerrillas usually get crushed. Having less money means you have fewer paid staff to deal with the kind of stuff you mentioned. In 2004, Bush spent $600m defeating Kerry, who raised almost $600m himself. McCain tried to make do with $80m. It just ain't possible.

Emailthem my post All American Teachers Should Be Fired Immediately and ask them to explain their string of assumptions about Palin.

They can't - without sliming the entire American teaching profession.

I tried to call as well and found voicemail boxes that were overflowing, disarray, etc.

McCain had to focus on being the candidate. He could not micromanage the campaign. In his concession speech, McCain took responsibility for the loss and I expected him to no matter what because blaming the campaign staff would be bad form.

But McCain's close campaign staff was pretty crappy all around. You can blame him for that but I also blame the RNC because they have to step up and help out with the ground game, oversee the campaign from a distance and give advice about what the candidate is doing right and what they are doing wrong.

I don't think the RNC did their job here.

It goes without saying that Palin was doing everything right. The only times things went wrong with Palin was when she was handcuffed by McCain's staff.

McCain has to enter into this fray and set the record straight. Lets give him the opportunity to do that before we condemn him.
