News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCains loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

Unsourced rumors.
Started by Obama operatives.
Clintoon and Carter were two of the brightest presidents and were utter failures in my book. OTOH, Reagan was constantly maligned as being slow and shallow.
I think people place entirely too much emphasis on intelligence when they should focus entirely on strength of character. I can easily surround myself with intelligent people. I can't buy honesty and integrity with all of the money in the world.
I emailed the asshats and forewarned them that they had better not pull this shit.
#Am I wrong?#
Probably. She’s obviously smart enough to understand whatever she wants.
But we haven’t seen enough of her to say.
She was astounding as a green politician fighting for the ticket.
But that’s all we’ve seen her do!
Well, I have not asked for any refunds.
But, I think you are missing something: Most FReepers are not Republicans 1st, they are conservatives (and freedom lovers) 1st. There is a difference - sometimes a big difference.
Open to it, or up for attacking her?
What a great idea to demand a refund. No better way to garner their attention. Good for you.
And if you have to have a follow-up conversation to track your refund, please tell them how angry I am.
A Republican state senator called into a local talk show(Howie Carr in Boston)and said he heard through the grapevine that the McCain aides are trashing Palin because they’re getting her out of the way for.....wait for it...Jeb Bush! I’m sorry the Bush name is dead politically. Since Wallace worked for GWB, I would say it’s safe to say Wallace is the rat.The state senator said the these aides are delusional trying to make way for Jeb Bush.I remember some of the stories earlier about the shopping etc, that SP had big probblems with the Bush people brought in to “help” Sarah
I think you are absolutely right. We have to wrest control of the RNC from the Rino cabal.
My husband says we should just dump the GOP and reregister with the Constitution party. If the RNC stays Rino controlled, we probably will.
Just sent my email to Ms Nelson!
Down with these Romneybots and blue bloods.
Obviously, and it was said out loud & proudly at the time, too. By lots of us.
You were suckered.
Exactly correct. She was the only one who gave me hope. I always knew how suspect McCain was. I can't believe he ran such a weak campaign. Almost like he felt it was dirty politics to simply speak on Obama's record. Unreal. He was way to nice in my opinion. When you have the entire liberal media against you....what does it matter how nice you are to your opponents. Speaking as a black guy....I would have run those Wright ads to death, I would have been like 10 times more nasty than McCain.
What Romneybots are you referring to? Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace are former Bush WH aides. Neither one of them ever worked for Romney. Should we blame Bush for this too then? Or, are these people, Wallace and Schmidt, responsible for their own actions?
That said, I don't think someone who is the governor of a state, who has a 4-year degree and many kids in school (who talk about many things from school with her, I'm sure), whose parents are teachers, would have said the things these “unnamed sources” said to smear her.
I do believe that idiots within the McCain camp would like to take out a decent conservative if they could do so anonymously, to help the candidate of their choice in a future job they might have.
I also believe that if there were occasions of misunderstandings, they could twist them beyond recognition. For instance, no one was uptight that McCain's wife showed up in a bathrobe on her daughter's blog with the media (apparently in a hotel room).
President Bush is much more known for grammatical mistakes, yet he has much more advanced degrees from higher-rated colleges, and I would bet you'd prefer him for another four years over McCain or Obama.
Think before you speak.
Just as we suspected yesterday and Rush confirmed, this is a internal war between blue blood country club republicanism and grassroots conservatism.
Some FReepers today think Palin is a damaged goods and lost cause, so what do they think of where Bush and Romney took this party? how did your Romney do in the primaries among GOP voters? worse than Huckster!
Bush43 = 59 Rat Senate and radical extremist Amerika.
Cedric, you can’t deny McCain hasn’t put a stop to these allegations made on Fox News last night by Carl Cameron.
You are blind.
“I would have run ads with Obama making his ‘95% tax cut’ promise followed immediately by Clintoon’s 1993 speech that he had ‘looked as hard as he could’ but couldn’t find a way to keep his middle-class tax cut pledge.”
I don’t agree with your entire post, but, your point above is good, and one I made to a number of people. A few were bright(?) enough to argue back: “well, why do you think Obama will be like Clinton?” Then the response is to come back with the campaign financing issue — and no one had a reply for that!

I sent the email and filed a dispute.
