Palin vs. McCain: Palin Insider Names Names
Regular Folks United ^ | November 6, 2008 | Kerri Houston Toloczko

News has been circulating around GOP insiders for weeks that McCain campaign honchos Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt were planning to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss. This was expected to be an effort to punt the blame for their own failures to the side of the ticket that was most popular with the base, attracted the largest rally crowds, and scared the living bejeepers out of the opposing party.

blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s loss?

Blame Palin for the loss of the guy that would go out of his way to align himself with the Democrats time after time? The guy who was loath to brand himself with the name of the party on whose ticket he was running? The guy who had all the speed of Bob Dole but none of the sparkling personality? THAT guy's loss?

"This is a load of crap. McCain defended Palin as recently as the day before the election with ads...he went on SNL with her. Don’t believe what you’re reading; it is being forwarded by folks who don’t want Palin anywhere near 2012!"

Actually for the most part, what you are saying is true ... (however I think the SNL joint appearance was with Tina Fey ;-).

My biggest gripe is not to blame McCain for this 'back stabbing' by his staff, but for his very weak campaign ... without Palin, he would have not come even close to the 5 points he was ... he would have carried maybe a few southern states and not all that he did. In retrospect, he was too 'reserved' in his campaign, and unfocused ... Palin was the razor in this campaign, and the crowd getter.

McCain is a loser. He spent his time pissing off the conservative base and the base stayed home, go figure.

McCain never had a chance, just another Bob Dole candidate.

So we’ve got at least Schmidt, Davis, Wallace and Madden.

No wonder the media kept reporting their multiple sources. I take it all to Palin’s credit that she stood up to it as much as she did, while giving the campaign her all.

Oh, and Randy Schunenman deserves kudos for standing up for her.

"If John McCain does not come out publicly and refute these horrible rumors, and stand up for the Veep choice that got him many of his 50 million votes, than I am not sure he is even half a decent man."

Bears repeating!!!

Here’s a news flash ... had it not been for Palin, the margin would have been even greater for Obama and I could have seen even more states falling (Montana, Georgia, etc.) I doubt McCain would have even reached 40% had it not been for Sarah. Palin energized me and energized the base. Without this energy it would have been a complete landslide, probably like 1980 but in reverse for the Dems.

Without her, McCain would have been speaking to crowds of about 15 members at local VFWs.

You got that right. Not to mention 10 of the 15 would have said “ John McCain?! I thought we were meeting Steve McQueen! “

Without Palin there would have been an Obama landslide. Sarah needs to nip this in the bud and fast before these lies become ‘ common knowledge ‘ four years from now.

I am under the impression that both candidates were going to take only public financing and that Obama suckered McCain by signing a pledge then not honoring it.

These “rumors” have been confirmed by Rush and David Frum... and I have demanded that McCain return ALL of the money that I donated. By his refusal to come to Palin’s aid in this debauchery, he has confirmed that he is no man of honor. It only took him 15 minutes to come to the aid of barry when a campaign staffer used his middle name hussein. Screw mcnasty!

"Rush and Beck both seem to believe the “rumors” at this point. Wanna ask them if DUmmyville sent them?"

That's a flat out lie! I heard Rush today.

We're going to have real live terrorists - and I'm not exagerating- running the country in January 2009. From the perspective of the rest of the free world, places like Poland and S Korea and Taiwan and Singapore - they are going to be looking at the single most capable military machine in the world being handed over to what is their enemy as much as ours. We fought a war on terrorism to keep WMD from falling into terrorist hands only to install terrorists at the head of our own government, making the United States potentially the most dangerous threat in world history, depending on whether or not we can take back this thing.

I understand the frustration but getting our panties in a wad over some cowards' snarky and cruel criticisms is only directing attention to the cowards. Which do you think is first on Palin's agenda- getting revenge on her cowardly little detractors or running the state of Alaska and keeping ane eye on world affairs which will affect not just Alaskans but the nation? Take a tip from Palin whom you claim to respect and focus your efforts on the greater enemy.

Memo to Rick Davis and Steve Schmidt: The only reason I voted “R” for the Presidential row on the ballot was due to Sarah Palin. I’d been thinking of voting third party until she was picked as the GOP VP candidate. She managed to pull enough real Americans to vote so McCain’s loss wasn’t on the scale of Goldwater in ‘64, Carter in ‘80 or Mondale in ‘84. Blame that fine, decent American woman for McCain’s defeat!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Messrs. Davis and Schmidt, it is Vichy-limousine-RINOs like you that give Republicans and conservatives a bad name, and you two can kindly go kiss a water moccasin.

Here’s what I just sent:

I’m extremely distressed and disappointed to see the trashing of Gov. Sarah Palin, blaming her for the recent election loss. When Sen. McCain announced her as his running mate, I immediately contributed online. This was the first time in my life, and I’m 51, that I’ve contributed to a political campaign. After seeing her speak at the RNC, I contributed again, feeling that she had the conservation values this country needs and the will to take the fight to the Democrats.

However, seeing the petty, vindictive, and wrong-headed information that’s being released by the McCain staff makes me somewhat more comfortable with an Obama Administration. At least we know where they stand. But the public trashing of a very fine woman by our own party is a big disappointment and believe me, people are paying attention and if any candidate is misguided enough to hire these people as staff members for any future campaigns, they’ll see the error of their thinking.

I’d like to determine what I can do to receive a refund for my campaign contributions because those were in response to Gov Palin and those funds do not deserve to remain with the McCain campaign.

I don’t know if there’s a way for the mods to change your screen name, but, since you’re relatively new, I’d just open a new account with a new name and then tell the mods to delete your old one.
