Nicole's Knifework (David Frum Identifies the anti-Palin Leaker)
National Review ^ | November 6, 2008 | David Frum

Wow -that is some savage cutting & gutting that Nicole Wallace has just performed upon Sarah Palin. Nicole & I crossed swords once, during the Harriet Miers nomination battle. Watching what Nicole can do when she is seriously annoyed, I am grateful that I got away from that fight with nothing worse than a few bumps and bruises ....

That said: Some of these stories do not ring quite true to me, especially the story about Palin allegedly not realizing that Africa was a continent rather than a country. Apparently she did not grasp that "South Africa" was not the same thing as "southern Africa." But there a lot of possible innocent explanations for a mistake like that.

I thought I heard Fred Barnes apologize on the air to Wallace . If campaign staff gives information the the press without attribution , I think it is reasonable to assume the candidate is behind it if they do not find out who is leaking and get rid of them .

*****

I heard him apologize also - thought it was for something he said about her not protecting Sarah from the wardrobe thing the night before, he was mad as all get out at her. Was that it?

All this crap sounds like petty, jealous, bitchy woman stuff. I despise the Soririty girl mentality in grown women.

Sarah's hot; Nicolle's not. Explains EVERYTHING. Men like Todd Palin don't seek out female liberal skanks, and they can't stand it.

I agree. Fox had no business runnign this story, and Carl Cameron is a friggen job. He needs to go. This type of journalism smacks of MSNBC.

Really? Remember it is a bunch of RINOs. Nothing surprising about the move to me.

Bill Kristol has always been for Sarah, he is also being savaged.

I was never a big Kristol fan, but he has publically, on Fox, spoken up for Sarah Palin.

Same here...and I will add Major Garrett to that same list. ***** I think Major fell hard for Obama. I like Major, but I noticed him change over the course of the campaign.

Yeah they are claiming Kristol gave her outside advice. It sounds like whoever said this is mad because he called them out back in early Oct. for mishandling her.

Except that it looks like they killed off THAT Nicole Wallace (assuming that you can trust DNA and a psycho killer).

Everyone is contacting Fox News.

Is anyone even contacting McCain? He needs to be INUNDATED with calls, emails, letters, etc. He — AND HIS WIFE — need to stand by Palin ASAP.

Good point. Her experience with Couric is probably the reason they hired her. : ) McCain never viewed the press as an enemy and was manipulated by them and the democrats for many years. And they’re still trying to manipulate him. I grew to dislike McCain never wanted him as the nominee. But despite his obvious flaws, I didn’t see him as a RINO either.

Name one Romney insider. There aren’t any.

Romney has been a good soldier. He worked throughout the campaign in whatever capacity he could to help McCain. I came around to Romney after some of the others were eliminated and donated to him late in the campaign. I know he was helping McCain with fundraising, because I began getting solicitations for McCain. The only person remotely associated with Romney whom I have heard anything about was a Bush/Delay professional political media consultant who worked for Romney for a while during the campaign, but has no further loyalty to him. And what he said about Palin wasn’t all that negative.

The Mormon haters are as much to blame as anyone for giving us McCain. They coalesced around Huckabee, whose goal was not to win, but to keep Romney from winning. Then Huckabee and McCain double teamed Romney to force him out.

Was Romney a perfect candidate? No. But who would have imagined that the economy would become the most important issue by election day? Think of the authority with which Romney could have spoken in the debates about the economy, and how the Democrats were at fault for the majority of the problems.

Oh, well.

Palin is great. By the next election, she will have had time to develop her knowledge of national and foreign affairs. She has an incredible political talent and populist appeal. Who knows, maybe she will do well.

But, if she doesn’t, it won’t be Romney’s fault.
