GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took some heat Wednesday from two of Pennsylvania's top political leaders.
Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell told business leaders at a postelection breakfast that John McCain would have had a better chance of winning Pennsylvania with a different running mate, and U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, a GOP moderate, rejected the idea that the Republican party might belong to Palin.

Blame it on a girl, when it is the GOP and McCain (with the help of the MSN) and voter fraud and illegal campaign contributions that caused Obama to win.
I'm keeping a long tab on assholes who are going to pen this on Palin, and if any of them are the nominee for any office I run for, I'm skipping that race or running against them as an independent.

What hurt Palin more than that was running with RINO McCain. If the nominee had been someone even slightly more conservative they could have won. McCain is a symbol of what is wrong with the Republican party- he is not conservative. He had to hedge and even change his positions taken as a Senator to even try to get elected. When he threatened to leave the party a while back, he should have done it. The good old boys at the top of the GOP seem to think we needed him, but they don’t get it and they need to go.
Palin was put in a position of not being able to promote her conservative views because it would not have helped McCain in the campaign he chose to run. She had to be cautious of how what she said reflected on McCain much more so than she would have if she had been the running mate of a conservative.
But this attack from within the GOP on Palin is really making me mad. I'm done with the Republican Party. F all these socialist-lite RINOs.
I smell fear and it is coming from the RINOs. They know they had their chance to prove that moderation is the key to winning and that they lost.
Maybe. It’s just a thought. It’s not really making a third party in that sense. It’s more of a splitting of the old into two, except taking the majority with us. Makes starving out the rinos a lot quicker.
You are absolutely correct. We here in SW Pennsylvania were surprised that the vote gap was that wide for Obama. We expected McCain to carry. It was the Philly vote!!! and yes, Fraud!!!!

That's ridiculous. The only reason I could vote without holding my nose was Sarah Palin. I hope she's back in some capacity in 2010 and as a candidate in 2012.
What you write is very true, but he is still a dork and a RINO. I do not trust him at all.
One thing is for sure. It would take a very committed leader to get through all the rough waters while doing it.
But Steven Harper did it, and he brought the conservatives back into power, from near oblivion after Mulrooney and the old party nearly lost every seat.
After 12 years of Liberal domination, He is prime minister, and leader of the New Conservative party of Canada.
I suspect it will take us at least 2 terms as well regardless of how we do it.
Reagan inspired democrats with the truth of his message- he definately ran as a conservative and reached out to the conservatives. He was not ignoring the conservatives while reaching for democrats. McCain ignored conservatives, he thought they would vote for him because they would have no other choice. He may have had a clue when his campaign was lagging with no momentum and picked Sarah to reach the conservatives. That was good- but he muzzled her because he was still aiming for dims. I think he thought he could win without conservatives- that didn’t work out too well for him in the end.
We don’t need a candidate that will appeal to dims, we need a conservative candidate that can reach conservatives with a good strong message, others will be drawn to the message by communication and leadership. That person will appeal to many others because of the message so will gather independents and even some democrats. That is the Reagan method and it worked, but many don’t to this day understand how he did it.
We can’t keep running to the left to try to gather their voters while losing our own. It simply doesn’t work.
Exactly. That's where we win or lose the general election - in the primaries. That's our ONE chance to get the true conservative into any given race.
That's also why I'll vote against both Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson when their next primary election comes up. Both of them voted for the bailout, so I'm bailing out on them.
Palin bashing is my new litmus test for who needs to be removed from the Republican party.

So you want to purge the center-rights huh? Ok how about we purge the far right? Unless this party unifies, Obozo is good as re-elected. We’re doing our part with Blount stepping down for Cantor to try this in good faith. So do your witchhunt elsewhere.
Purge the party of non-conservatives. Conservatives should fight, lobby and do whatever it takes to be in power. They then should systematically and consistently apply a conservative litmus test on every elected member of the party. If they don’t pass the test, then don’t fund them for re-election. Don’t give them any committee seats if they’re in office. Let it be known they’re tossing them out. Have press conferences and tell them who they’re actively working to throw out of the party.
Go join the communist party, that’s where you belong!
One thing is for sure, I’ll never, ever force myself to hold my nose and vote for anyone who does not represent what the party is supposed to stand for again.
How McCain even got in as the Republican candidate in the first place still bothers me, and it means there is a lot to clean up with the party admin itself. No way should a rino ever have been voted in.
