Blunt to step down as #2 Republican in house. Cantor to replace him-Breaking on CNN
Oh please, may every damn one of these complete failures step down and allow others to guide the ship.
This includes the perpetually tanned Boehner and Blunt.
I realize that these guys are sometimes viewed in a positive light but please...THEY FAILED.
They had control of the congress, the Senate, the presidency. They gave us, as candidates, Bush the first who promised no new taxes we should read his lips...who also allowed Saddam to escape back to continue his nonsense. Then there was Bob Dole, an icon of charisma if every there was such a thing...of course he needed a little help from Viagara. On to Dubya who sing-songs everything he says and slays no one with his intellectual genius. Sure he led us after 9-11 and onto the elimination of Saddamn and the base supported him. But the man sat mute while the Dems nailed him for everything including hurricanes, no weapons of mass destruction and that sad display with Plame/Wilson.
Then John McCain and because of Palin the base went with just one more insult from the GOP. Still McCain had everything the pubs could want and if ever an illegal-immigrant-loving, terrorist-pacifying,free-speech-limiting so-called Conservative could hope to win the support of the base, McCain did. Please let him slink off into the sunset and he can stop reaching across the damn aisle now.
They had all the power and they did nothing save train their head-hairs to always remain in their appointed place, seek tans and polished nails and spit-shined wing tips. They basked in their titles and ersatz power and they did nothing.
Somebody tell the pubs that Barack Obama had one thing that the pubs did not have and have not had for generations, not with either Bush, not with Dole...who always referred to himself in third person how cute was that...not with mealy-mouth McCain...
Barack had CHARISMA and could give a speech!
If you packed up all the charisma held by Dole, both Bushes and McCain you couldn’t fill a thimble. Now I know charisma isn’t a major benchmark in leadership but it’s damn important. Maybe the pubs don’t have to put Brad Pitt on the ballot but surely somewhere there’s someone a little younger and with more personality than Dole, Bush and McCain. They might want to consider looking for someone who got better than a C in public speaking.
I’m so sick of the lot of them and I don’t want to see a single one of them continue on.
He did the right thing . The democrats were running on culture of corruption and using him as part of the story.
In retrospect I wished he had stayed.

Both are great choices, but I prefer McCotter. He ripped the dems a new on the Fannie/Freddie mess they made.
Yep, I fail to see how DeLay's backing down wound up helping the Republican cause.
I like McCotter better also. But Pence would do in a pinch. I’m sure there are internal politics that take place within the House that might put Pence ahead of McCotter. If McCotter can’t win and Pence can, then I’m good with Pence. But either way Boehner has to go.
Who’s in charge of the republican party? Who’s calling the shots?
Just wait until you see the make-up of the comitties. The RATs will go back to their old LBJ form where there is only a token presence of Pubies with no voice. Then you'll think overflowing chamber pot instead of spitoon.
What they’ll provide is contrast, which is exactly what we’ve been asking for: don’t act like dems.

Look at what they did with that poor Foley guy. Who was replaced with a cheating adulterating Republican now ain’t that a smile and a half?
The pubs seem to think that by beating up their own every time the Dems point a finger that we are somehow impressed. Hurray for Larry Craig and hurray for Ted Stevens. I sure don’t want to play the game by different rules and if the corrupt get to stay...fine. Let the voters decide. The pubs get upset when their head hairs get mussed and/or they missed their scheduled times in the tanning booths.

Your post is typical of the doom-and-gloomers here.
I have no doubt people said the same thing about America at past momentous times in our history. We are still here.
Winning for the GOP is pretty simple.
1) Actually offer some visionary ideas. This past election, we had nothing, while Obama talked to the people about a new America and gave what people saw as something different, a better direction (and since the GOP didn’t offer a decent alternative despite McCain trying, it is no wonder at least a few more members of the public decided that it didn’t really matter that Obama wouldn’t say how he would pay for all his plans).
2) REALLY WORK HARD to outreach to every group and explain specifically how we plan to help THEM. This does not mean capitulation to them, but actually bothering to give a crap about their problems and issues. Setting up outreach booths and spreading the conservative message and how it isn’t the boogeyman would go a LONG, LONG way to cutting the number of African-Americans and Hispanics voting Democrat.
3) Along with number 2, stop considering minorities the enemy and figure out how to get their vote. Hispanics especially are normally hard-working and family-centered people. Take advantage of that!
4) We must take the fight to the media in new, interesting ways. FR helps, but using the new media like Facebook, MySpace, Digg (which FR is starting to do.....do a search, as this is a great thing)......these are all critical. A lot of how Obama won was his outreach using technology. The GOP was behind. Texting, social networks.....it’s all critical now. And we must do what is necessary to KEEP the interest long after an election is over. That means updates to social network groups, occassional texts on policies etc. Keep people updated on the cause and why it matters or they may drift off.
Cantor would have been a great VP pick. Watch this guy in the future. He’s what we need. Young, non-WASP, smart, articulate and conservative.
I also wonder when Boner steps down.

He’s a REAL conservative.
Yes, Boehner can’t actually be clinging to his position after two straight electoral disasters.
Mike Pence is the heir apparent......great conservative credentials.....and a spectacular communicator.
There was only one Ronald Reagan and they will never be another. This country has turned liberal greedy and ANY Conservative running will have to convince this country why they should abandon their liberal greed. I fear after Obama, that will next to impossible to do.
Blunt is doing the right thing. But Boehner ABSOLUTELY needs to go.
