Ways to "afford" the pending Obama tax hike.

Obama is going to raise your taxes to give it to those that pay little to know taxes. Here's how I started to afford the Obama tax hikes.

Here’s how I’m handling it.

I typically leave the maid a tip at the hotel I stay at...I’m checking out today so instead of a tip...I left a note:

“I wish I could afford to leave you a tip, but I’m saving for the Obama tax hike. However, I’m sure Obama will take good care of you as he plans to tax me to give it to you. Obama is going to collect your tip from me...take part of it...then pay you the rest.”

Also I typically tip 20% and round up if service at restaurants is good. But now I’m going to default to 15% and round down. Also any slip in service is a 2% cut.

Are there other types of jobs that people typically don't make much money so they are going to "win" in an Obama income redistribution scheme? If so, how can we "get our money back" from day to day dealings with them?

I’m a very very good tipper as are all my family members. I’d be ashamed not to tip well for good service.

That's what happens in class warfare. I'm sure many business owners are good and pay their employees well and give them great benefits. But some do not...so we need to tax all of them (good and bad). So unfortunately some good service industry people will suffer, but trust me the majority are getting what they deserve.

Is tipping ever considered appropriate in socialist countries? It seems in europe anyway that the more socialistic the people, the more that tipping is frowned upon as demeaning to the worker. As the US slides further into socialism, do we tip less or not at all because the employer is supposed to provide a living wage to the server?

Yep. Some folks just don’t get it. I’ve been here long enough that people should know where I’m coming from.

There are people out there who should get the message you want to send. But they are most definitely NOT working in the service industry.

I guesss when you can’t win the argument resort to calling names.

I prefer to call it identifying character traits

Are you sure you’re not bill clinton?

Brilliant retort for-q, simply brilliant.

The saddest part of the O empire will be the loss of donations to faith based programs.

Won't happen. The first check Christians write is to their church. It will be the "holier than thou" non-profits like the united way or red cross that will suffer.

"How do you plan to afford the Obama tax hikes?"

I'm gonna have ACORN buy me 12 mortgage-free houses.

I plan to cobble together every itemized deduction that I can, just short of triggering the alternative minimum tax. As long as they are still tax-deferred, I will max out my 401k and IRA contributions. If the new Radical Democrats start messing with qualified retirement plans, I will cease contributing as soon as possible and put my future retirement contributions into tax-free municipal bonds.

Exactly! We have a winner. People on here have called me an asshole...and in reality they are just ignorant. Tipping isn't common across the world...and right...the more socialist the less common the tip. I'm just playing the hand I was dealt.

While contributions to my 401K are still tax deferred, I'm putting 10% more of my salary into it. This will lower my taxable income off the top. I'm quitting my 2nd job, and having my boss re-hire me under the table for a lesser rate. Instead of 20% tips in restaurants bars etc. I will now only tip around 15% and be more critical of service. reducing my spending.. instead of getting large and extra large size orders will be ordering medium. When I bet at OTB, I will make 2 5$ bets instead of 1 10$ bet, so if I do hit a big payout, I can cash at a 2 lower amount avoiding or lowering IRS withholding. cutting back on my electric and gas usage even further, a good chunk of that bill is taxes...I wear a sweater and light a candle. Brew the annual maximum amount of beer allowed at home(100/gals per adult per household), and buy used tires(no excise tax). In other words I'm going to try to starve socialism, by reducing the amount of tax I generate.

Wolfie ... in spite of for-q's protests, I'm sticking with a-hole.

The problem is at least these people are working and trying to help themselves. If you punish them for something they may not even have done (and likely did not, because they may want to own the business someday) they will just revert to welfare and live entirely off us. Try somehting else to make your point

I agree that we need to teach them how conservatism makes their life better, not worse, or we will never be in power again.

No, 15% is not stingy. Some people here are just grumpy.

That is stingy. That’s like the woman who refused to give Halloween candy to little kids if their parents voted for Obama. Not exactly how to win hearts and minds.

“After a pleasant chat with my waiter/waitress, I’ll ask who he or she voted for and then adjust my tip accordingly.”

Pushing politics into every aspect of daily life is something we rightly criticize leftists for. Who you waitress votes for is none of your business.

If a waitress ADVERTISED her politics with an Obama button, then I might choose not to leave a tip and explain why.

Your idea is good.

Why should I pay more when my financial future is uncertain? Doesn't make sense.

Sure, I feel bad for the service people because they won't get as much. But tell them it's because of Obama. Because it is.

And people calling you names on this thread for being realistic are twisted.

yes, go to restaurants and hotels but not if you’re going to stiff the service.
