The pollsters all agreed.
Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich would whip Republican Sen. Ted Stevens in Tuesday's election. Maybe by a little. Maybe, as some polls predicted, by a landslide.
For months, the same pollsters predicted a solid win for Democrat Ethan Berkowitz over incumbent Republican Rep. Don Young in the battle for Alaska's lone U.S. House seat.
Then everyone voted.
Surprise! A Young victory looks within his reach. And Begich is behind in the count - though he still hopes to eke out a win. Even with more than 60,000 absentee and early votes still to be counted, neither Democrat could surge ahead to the kind of margin predicted by pollsters.
"I'm not happy how that came out," said pollster Del Ali, of Research 2000, a Maryland firm that tracked the House and Senate races in Alaska.
Begich was trailing Stevens by about 3,000 votes, as of Wednesday. But as recently as last week, Research 2000 reported Begich was leading Stevens by 22 percentage points. Daily Kos, a left-leaning Web site, paid for the polls.

Frankly, Alaska should be ashamed for electing these two crooks.

With the Democrats in control, and now Obama as president, I’d say the worst Republican is better than yet another Democrat at this point in time. I know a lot of people who felt that way.

FWIW, claiming “someone is under invesstigation” and coming up with an inditment are two very different things. If the Feds had anything on Don Young - he would be in court. These accusations have been out there for 3 years, and no one has (at the FedGov level) has even said an investigation is even underway.....
As for TEd, we’ll see after a fair trial.
As for the rest of youze guyz, if you don’t live in Alaska, it is none of your business.....
It is our business.. that Stevens seat is critical to sustaining filibusters.

It seems like Don Young’s imminent defeat has been predicted just about forever now.
The “new” game in town is power, no matter how it was acquired, if Smith can lose in OR, a Stevens win will do.
It’s not a new game, but the rules have been changed significantly. The Democrats put up an America hating, Constitution hating, baby murdering, racist, socialist wannabe marxist, military hating, radical leftist for President and then bought his win with dirty money, foreign “investors”, and an Acorn tree full of illegal voters (dead people, repeat people, cartoon characters and invisible people)..........

Also a lesson for out-of-state 527s, it is a waste of money, not enough ex-Califlowers live here for that kind of ‘electioneering’ to work.

Berkowitz, Young’s opponent, is a democrat.
Begich, Stevens’ opponent, is a democrat.
If you want to fault Alaskans, fault us for primaries and elections past. In the meantime, you can take your opinion and go to hell. We do our best to not elect liberals up here.

Say it loud. I didn't vote for Ted and Don. I voted against Begich and Berkowitz and the whole national democrat machine that spent millions up here this cycle. Ef 'em.

FWIW - most consider him no worse than the rest of the jackels in the FedGov, so - why not send him back?
