US troops fighting off a Taleban ambush bombed a wedding party in southern Afghanistan and killed about 40 civilians, mainly women and children, local people and government officials said yesterday. American officials confirmed last night that an incident was under investigation by the US military and the Afghan Government. Colonel Greg Julian, a US army spokesman, told The Times: We are taking this very seriously.... He confirmed that US forces had been operating in the Shah Wali Kot area when the alleged incident took place on Monday afternoon, and that airstrikes were called in. Injured people arrived in Kandahar overnight ... A local reporter who reached the scene said that ten women, four men and 23 children were killed. I think it’s called “war is hell”.
Again? They should outlaw weddings over there. /sarc
Seriously, IF this proves to be true, a certain General’s head will roll.
Thankfully this will no longer happen after January 20,2009. The Taliban can just go in and behead the women and children like the good old days when Clinton was president.
So how many wedding parties have we bombed now?
Well I’m glad we’re pulling out of there then. :D
All of them..../S
Welcome to our future lazy ass GOP voters who sat at home or voted for Obama. I hope the week or so of feel-good stories will soothe the pain we all will feel over the next few years.
PG-7’s and AK’s are not party favors......... I’ll reserve my use of the term “accident” until further investigation from other than presstitutes.
Someone should do a search ... wedding parties ... how many? ... it drew my eye and so I posted it.
I also had a story about a boy being murdered by acid injection by kidnappers in Mexico, but it turned out someone else had posted it.
You must admit, stories like this put one’s own problems into perspective.
How long before president elect BO talks about “air raiding villages and killing innocent civilians” again?
Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of the story where this acknowledgment is found. Seems the Taliban is responsible for this and continues it's practice of seeking shelter among civilians, deliberately causing this kind of tragedy.
Yes, it is confirmed that the Taliban were operating in the area, although not with those details, which are probably embroidered.
That will be Sect of State Kerry's job
Wow, weddings in that part of the world must be to bombs what trailer parks are to tornadoes here.
Those soldiers had better not come home, because the minute Obama steps foot in the whitehouse they’ll get shipped off to the Whirled Court.
well think about it
a gathering of folks in a usually rugged enviroment not overpopulated with people
if so...prayers for the innocents, especially the children and the poor couple
i doubt our military intenionally bombs large groups of civilians, Generation Kill notwithstanding
