IHHO, McCain lost when he caved-in to Bush/Paulson. He had an opportunity to lead the nation away from socialism and he failed. The race was lost on the day bailout passed. The people did not want this deal. But, of course, he already had several strikes against him. McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Lieberman, etc., all of which dampened the spirit of the base. And I doubt he’s learned any lessons. Probably thinks he didn’t go far enough to the left. Unfortunately, the Republican party will probably agree. Huge lost opportunity. A true conservative could have waltzed in against the Marxist kid Obama. McCain had his chance to redeem himself and save the nation, but blew it.
I like Palin for her natural conservatism, but don’t know if she’ll be the one for 2012.

Nailed it, imo. I hope we don’t forget who voted for that fiasco.
Thanks for your response.
Palin was a breath of fresh air. She certainly was one of us. I don’t think the media will ever allow her to get close to DC again unless she forces her way in as a US Senator.
Then all of a sudden they’ll discover gravitas.
