I appreciate the comments. My point is that we should not buy into the premise that Palin is "damaged goods," or that her national political future is over because she was part of a losing ticket. If anything, her reputation and political star has been burnished by her performance. I hope the RNC calls upon her to participate in the 2010 midterms to help Rep candidates in their states and districts. She should not fade away to Alaska and emerge four or eight years later.

I have been to one of her rallies. She creates an energy and excitement rarely seen in American politics. She has that certain "it" factor that you must be born with. I don't accept the MSM/Dem (and now McCain staff members) caricature of her as some dumb bimbo who does not understand that Africa is not a country but a continent. I watched her Alaska Governor debates on C-SPAN. She is a formidable candidate. Her performances during the convention and against Biden were remarkable for someone who had been plucked at the last minute from Alaska and thrust on to the national stage in the middle of a heated Presidential campaign.

The degree to which the MSM and the Dems have gone to destroy her is testimony enough to her ability to be a major political force. They want to portray her as "damaged goods" because they understand her appeal to average Americans. She is a threat and must be destroyed just like Joe the Plumber. We know more about Sarah and Joe than we know about the President-elect Obama. I blame the McCain campaign for failing to make this election a referendum on Obama. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the McCain campaign had some damaging personal information on Obama but failed to use it because it wouldn't be "honorable." McCain ran a terrible campaign.

What's funny...is what I think you are saying...is you don't think Palin is a polished politician. Biden is a fairly polished politician..and during the debate...he lied his ass off...but did in a very sure of himself polished way.

Frankly...I want "REAL" people that are smart, and deliberate...and don't just just flapping their gums on things they don't know about.

I'm sorry if you think I was shooting you..as the messenger. Ha!! I didn't intend for you to be offended.

I actually think you have maybe succumbed to some of the anti-Palin propaganda..out there.

This much I will maybe agree with you on....I don't think she is "our hope" in 2012. That being said....she was a breath of fresh air...from the normal politician that is shoved down our throats.

FWIW

That may...may be a stage of coming to the reality of what has happened. I spent a few hours thinking of where I could move to get away from all of this. Canada, Alaska, Texas. If there was a heavy right wing country in the world it would be attractive right now. The reality I've found is the Constitution is the most beautiful governmental design in the world and Conservatism did not lose, McCain and RINO’s did.

I understand your caution. It has been a long time since Conservatives have had a personality that really excited them. She's getting some "ideal woman" fantasies projected onto her I think, and it is refreshing to see an attractive woman in the a political role to be reckoned with. People either found her wink endearing or disgusting. There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground.

The campaign did not give people an opportunity to fairly assess her substance. We know she is exciting on the stage. We know she looked bad in one interview, and the press went all-out to destroy her. But when one of the few journalists I've learned to have some respect for tells her audience she has talked with her and thinks she's a smart lady, I have to take that into account. I'm talking about Greta.

I think it was Davy Crockett who said to congress, “You all go to Hell, I'm going to Texas.”

And from our Founding Father comes this gem:

“If all else fails, I will retreat up the valley of Virginia, plant my flag on the Blue Ridge, rally around the Scotch-Irish of that region, and make my last stand for liberty amongst a people who will never submit to British tyranny whilst there is a man left to draw a trigger.”

George Washington, at Valley Forge.

Thats the kind of bravado we need in our party. Thats the kind of leader we need. Not saying grab our family and guns and head for the hills, but stand up to the socialist taking over this country, and this is not done through “crossing the isle” like McCain so often said.

Hi Rinnie. :o)

Gov Palin knows - I believe there are some disgruntled folks who are making every attempt to discredit her. Idiots, all of them.

I’m not going to hold my breath with the RNC, they don’t get it. I think savvy congressmen will contact her for fund-raising and other support. She may also work to consolidate her following among conservative groups and voters by speaking engagements and the like, avoiding mainstream Republican venues.
Living in NJ (hence the luxury of passing up the vote for McCain before Governor Palin’s addition to the ticket), the opportunity to see her in person was just not an option, much to my dismay.
Now it’s time to start picking up after the disaster, tossing the effluvia and saving the valued.

Vision, your posts always wontedly reaffirm your apt moniker.

And to echo another poster, "It's time to willow the grain."

I agree with most of your point of view. I'm merely trying to point out the “hatchet job” that was done on Governor Palin, and which seems to be continuing now in the effort to derail her future in politics. There are many enemies from within the “so called” Republican establishment, as well as the obvious MSM and DemonRATs. The DemonRATs are automatically suspect and therefor not much concern, although I really do think they picked our presidential candidate this election cycle. The MSM is / was / always will be a major obstacle. Cheap backstabbing attacks from disloyal campaign staffers cannot be tolerated. Leaking to the press about the silly wardrobe issues and things of that nature were deliberate sabotage. Individuals with that level of lack of integrity, I don't want representing me.

I attend CPAC every year. I hope Sarah is invited to speak at the upcoming meeting at the end of February. It should be a lively three days.

Hey jwalsh07, this may be ludicrous, but there is a grain of truth to it. She couldn't name a scotus pick she disagreed with. Couldn't you? Don't we deserve a leader who has a little more information? I am thinking I need a time out, because with people piling on Palin, it's a bad time to be reasonable. The wagons are circled and I understand that.

But smitten is no way to go through politics. In my view, the rational thing to do is not to annoint Sarah Palin. It is to say, OK, Sarah Palin is a candidate, a prospect. And leave it at that for now. THEN, find two or three more who we think might even be better. Withhold judgement, watch, let them compete, and try to get the best one.

Sarahmania is driven by her likability. But we need more than that. I think people make a mistake investing to heavily in her right now. She's a 3 out of 5 star stock with high risk and a limited history. Not worth sinking everything into. We need to diversify. Find others, let them compete.

Here's hoping Sarahmania fades, rationality returns, and skepticism and smarts take control. Maybe Sarah will be our best candidate, but I hate the way people are ready to buy now. It's too early, and WE deserve to have her prove herself to us. As of now, I like her, but I am far from sold.

What's going on now is emotion driven. "They" attacked her, so "we" defend her. And I understand that. But screw what "they" think. What do WE think? We need to demand more of her if she does intend to run in 2012. And we need to find legitimate competition so we have real choices and can use competition to our advantage. Sarahmania is Fredmania in a skirt, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not piling on. I'm not blaming her. I'm not saying she isn't "The One." I'm saying we're the customer. We should shop around. Consider her a prospect, an applicant, and leave it at that. Or am I wrong?

I haven’t watched news in one day and i seem a lot happier

I must confess to being pretty ignorant of world events lately. I don't watch tv, don't listen to radio news, and don't subscribe to the newspaper. All the media (I'm in Tulsa) are extreme left-wing. It does nothing but make me nervous and upset.

I was periodically checking the news on the 'net but haven't since the election. I'm tired of the world rejoicing that America has elected a black socialist who attended a church that preaches white (and America) hate. A black prez is fine, if he has civilized ideas. This guy does not.

Whew. I typed a lot more than I intended.

This is a bunch of out of context innuendo. I'll take John Bolton's word for her knowledge over the media hacks, thank you.
