And Mr. Keyes _did_ have them, I presume?

In that case, how did he manage to do so well running directly as the Republican candidate vis-a-vis Obama in Obama’s Senate race?

My point on Keyes was 2-fold:

1) Certainly you will admit that, as Keyes pointed out, W was a bad communicator and that is a critical qualification for a successful Presidency if you are a conservative.

2) Re the Illinois Senate race, what other carbetbagging conservative could have come into Illinois and beat a machine candidate who had the political talent to become President after only 4 years in a major office?
