Analysis: GOP set to shake up Tenn. Capitol
Knoxville News-Sentinel (via knoxnews.com) ^ | November 5, 2008 | Associated Press

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Republicans can flex newfound muscle and shake the Tennessee Capitol to its foundation when they take control of the General Assembly in January.

The seismic change the election is bringing to the political power structure comes as the state faces its worst economic crisis in decades.

And a Republican leader in the House — where Democratic Speaker Jimmy Naifeh of Covington has thwarted GOP measures for the last 18 years — should clear the way for measures limiting abortion rights and loosening gun restrictions.

Republicans could also determine the future of the state's judicial selection process and whether to replace it with the direct election of appellate judges.

I’d like to move, but my DH thinks that we’re needed in this BLUE section of Michigan. Right.

Maybe its time some of us red state folks move to some of the blue states and turn them red. We can keep our homes in the red state and just rent in the blue states. I guess if Nose Hairs Waxman can live in Maryland and be a Senator or whatever from Florida by using his mothers Florida residense as his adress, we should be able to vote from another state.

Actually, that sounds like a good idea, although in Pa it’s hard to counteract those dead voters, ya know?

I’m so ashamed of Pa. today. :-(

Amen on doing better than Corker, he’s a waste of skin. No idea on who to replace Bredesen yet (Marsha Blackburn, maybe?).

Plenty of room, nice climate, pretty girls, good food. As Rush would say “Babies, guns and Jesus. Hot damn!”

Well, I’m not interested in the ‘pretty girls’ - being a young girl myself once (note I didn’t say ‘pretty’!), but I think I could fit in as a middle-aged southern lady. :-)

And no fake southern accent - I promise! lol!

I was really surprised at all the swing states that went for Obama. Massive ACORN fraud.

I love Marsha Blackburn! She is Tennessees version of Sarah Palin.

Yep. I am torn, though, because we need her views in Washington as much or more than we need her as Governor.

I voted against Lamar! and I’m not ashamed to admit it. He did not deserve reelection. No, I didn’t vote for the rodent, I voted for the candidate whose premier issue is putting “None of the Above” on the ballot.
