You are absolutely correct. He was a likable "Black" man, and he stood for the nebulous concept of "change". Its not like EVERYBODY voted for him, heck, nearly half (47%) voted for the "other" guy, even with EVERYTHING that went wrong for him.

I hate these handwringing vanities. What we need is one or two threads of WHAT happened, Why, and where to go from here, thats all.

One thing I am interested in is Sarah's future. The EggHead-Cons are going to try to crush her. I am something of an egg head myself, but I think Sarah can ADD to her character, maybe studying up of foreign policy and economics, and 4 years hence emerge as a very strong force in the Republican party. I'd like to see that.

Yes. First thing she needs to do is go home, tend to business, and get herself re-elected next time ‘round.

And in the meantime, she needs to start hitting the books and assembling a small circle of advisors for 2012.

I’ll admit I was very cool to her when McCain picked her, and I still believe that - however good she is or [more correctly] will become - that 2008 was a bit too early for her to jump up on the national stage. But the lady is going to be a contender - no doubt about it!
