Official Election Hangover Thread
SoftwareEngineer | 11/05/2008 | SoftwareEngineer

What an awful way to wake up this morning. I have a sense of disbelief about what has happened. I am trying to do my morning chores but I can physically feel my heart hurting and my head pounding. It is unreal. I feel I am not really living this and instead this is some hallucination.

And yet, the day must go on. I have to get ready, go to work and meet clients. So to get over this election hangover (and a fair bit of Glenlivet last night) I am going to do the following:

1. Pray 2. Go for a run 3. Not watch any TV or listen to any Radio 4. Take a giant Excederin for my headache

How is everyone else handling this? Please post what you are all doing to keep functioning

I went to bed early, thinking about the Carter years and looking forward to the release of that videotape about 0bama making pro-Palestinian comments. Now that he’s elected, the media will be investigating him very thoroughly, and doing their best to create and fuel controversy.
Among my worries, the future of the conservative media such as FR, the freedom of the air (talk radio), and the makeup of the courts. The left doesn’t play fair and will do all they can to stifle us.
Everyone should think about how we got to this pass (who is teaching your children?) and realize that we won’t get out of it easily. Conservatism in America must be built on a foundation, not on a network of echo chambers. Become an activist. Teach your child instead of surrendering him to public indoctrination. Run for office.
As McCain suggested, stand up and fight.
This morning, we must all accept that America has turned in a bad direction, and it will require all our shoulders to start turning it back.

Yes, I understand that my taxes won't rise immediately, but to a sweet daughter who understands our struggle to send her to school, she felt what we all feel in the loss - anquish in looking forward to harder times economically as the One shares our "wealth"...

What wealth?

Obama played the perfect game. He simply could not lose. Sadly this meant that McCain had no hope of winning.

It had nothing to do with money, rather, the guiless and inept mindsets of the majority of Americans.

We must NOT lose focus here. The people of Rome felled Rome. Will the same happen to the US. One man is nothing, half a nation is something else.

Our best ally in getting our country back before it is to late, is Bambi himself. We MUST show that he CANNOT deliver and show the people that he is NOT their Savior. If Bambi is seen for what he is before sweeping radical changes beset this land, sanity may once again rule.

I had my mental health plan mapped out 2 weeks ago.

Day 1: Mourn. Include much chocolate and kleenex.

Day 2: Celebrate. This IS a historic election.

Day 3: Begin looking to 2010 and fighting 0 all the way.

Uh, the problem is, I was in a red state. Our red voters came out at a rate of 80% in some precincts . . . and 1/3 of them voted for Obama.

Well, the worst possible scenario happened, and my take on it is that our country deserves EXACTLY the government that it elects.

While that sucks for us 55,000,000 Conservatives who voted for Governor Palin and that other guy, some 62,000,000 (not including the fraudulent votes) have decided that the U.S. needs to lurch abruptly left. They will get far more than they bargained for in my humble opinion once our taxes once again shoot through the roof and the government invades our private lives even more than it already does.

I have a few predictions about what will happen from hereonin:

1. After Obama is inaugurated and the next Congress enters session, there will be a flurry of obnoxious and odious laws passed that will make most of us gag.

2. The economy will tank even worse. Obama, Pelosi and Reid will get away with blaming Bush and the GOP for "8 years of failed policies", but that will only work for about six months before the Rats are stuck with full ownership of it, since they will control all three branches of government.

3. Obama's initial attempts at diplomacy will fail miserably, and terrorism will spike. Additionally, our country or one of its allies (Israel) will be attacked. The Rat-controlled government will fumble its response (by running to the U.N.) and humiliate this country further, while more Americans die.

4. Ginsburg, Stevens, and Kennedy will retire from SCOTUS, and Obama will select three hard-core liberal judges to replace them, easily confirmed by the Rat-controlled Senate. Our civil liberties will then start contracting sharply, with a new Fairness Doctrine imposed and new assaults on the 1st and 2nd Amendments.

5. After about 8 months, and once the honeymoon with Obama is finally over, the various Rat factions (feminists, gays, enivro-wackos, blacks) competing for money and influence in Congress will start squabbling with one another and begin the process of tearing the party apart, much as it did in 1993 and 1994.

6. By 2010, the U.S. public will become so disenchanted with a Democrat-controlled Congress that both the House and Senate will suffer big turnovers in that year's election, as happened in 1994.

7. By 2012, Obama will be so weakened by his failed social, economic, and foreign policies snafus that he will become vulnerable to defeat that year.

8. Sarah Palin will win re-election as governor of Alaska in 2010, and make her first big moves toward a Presidential campaign. He biggest challenger for the GOP mantle will be Mitt Romney, whose people have tried their best to damage her over the past few weeks with their "leaks" to the press.

9. Palin will re-energize the Conservative base and win the 2012 GOP nomination, despite more underhanded tactics by Romney and his network.

10. Governor Palin will win the Presidency in 2012.

With that said, I'm physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted from this campaign season, and will be taking a vacation from FR for a few weeks to concentrate on work and family. I'll be checking in occasionally, but will offer no new posts until after Christmas.

Catch y'all then!

We had a 20-inch pizza and 4 L of pop while watching the returns.

Whoa.

And still had to finish the laundry and get the kids on the bus.

It’s starting to dawn on me ... we face a war, recession and energy crisis all at once, led by The. Weakest. President. Ever. Worse than Carter. No real-world or legislative experience.

God is still on the throne, though.

When the pain comes, his most ardent supporters will feel it. We know what is coming; they do not.

Let them get their hearts broken by someone they believe in. I know one thing: I will not be disappointed for the next four years.

I also have high hopes Obama will do what Clinton did and overreach handing the House to renegade Republicans.

I am still up after crying, swearing, and in disbelief that my fellow Americans (and some republicans I know) could elect this guy.

I’m not going to watch anymore news!!! I’ve had it. Will only come here to see what’s going on.

The thing that keeps running through my mind is all those graves from the Civil War and WW2 of the men who fought for our country. For this???

Concerning last night’s election, a few random rants before the fog of depression lifts:

Dear John (McCain), he may be your president (I know, you felt compelled to say that), but he isn’t mine and his chances of ever becoming that are somewhere between less than yours in Pennsylvania and none.

After observing Michelle MaBelle at “The One’s” victory celebration last night, a person has to wonder when National Geographic will do a fashion spread on her, and who in the world SNL will find to duplicate that walk and mannerisms when they do their obligatory skit involving her.

Thinking about MM (and I’m not referring to Marilyn Monroe) at the celebration, causes one to long for the days when their worst “First Lady” nightmares were about the gin soaked raisins lady. This thought alone is enough to make you toss your (Girl Scout) cookies.

Speaking of tossing; since we tossed God out of our school houses and our court houses, it seems He has allowed us to play a near fatal joke on ourselves by letting our American Idol voting population elect an Arabian-African short change artist to be our new “dear leader”.

To paraphrase, it seems that “we are the ones we need to blame for the mess we’ve made”; or “ask not what your country can do for you, but where is my income tax rebate check?”; or “it’s mourning in America”; or “the only thing we have to fear is the civilian security force”.

Take heart, my friends, and always remember that a rising Dow floats all loans. “Hal-will-tell-ya”, happy days are here again and there will be no more shadow chicken soup. (For those to young to remember, during the 1930’s my mother used to hang a Roosevelt chicken on the clothes line on a bright sunny day, and place a kettle of broth in the shadow of the chicken and thus one chicken made several kettles of soup.)

There; I feel better now!

I’m following the 1, 2, and 3 in your prescription. I’ll be disconnecting from TV and radio during the forthcoming period of hysterical euphoria during which everyone (including McCain) promises “to support Obama during the trying times ahead.”

That period will end a few months after Inauguration Day when the Black Swans start flocking in to roost. Then I’ll begin to engage again.

I’ve got an early retirement offer on the table that I have to decide on by Dec.
Right now I think I grab it and head for the underground economy.
I’m really worried about a 401k/pension grab like they’re doing in Argentina.

Before you go, please pray for my son in Iraq and all the members of our military.

This CIC will be a test on them all. It’s a test, that I as a mother don’t want them to have to go through....but here we go!

Dear God, protect our proud and noble military, that they might have the courage, hope and strength to defend this nation even in the face of an attack against us by the immortal enemy. And give them faith to bravely face the dangers of the events that will surely come to test this people we call Americans.

In Jesus Name, Amen

I want the countdown bumper sticker with the date 01-20-13

I want to blame my overeating on Obama

I want all my Democratic friends’ goldfish dead

I want nifty meaningless phrases like Bush lied etc.

I want Obama to be both the most evil manipulative president and the dumbest dupe on the planet.
