Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush.
The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.
According to recent Gallup polls, the president's average approval rating is below 30% -- down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.
This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, "Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust."
Those bipartisan efforts have been met with crushing resistance from both political parties.

It’s the continual character assassination of President Bush and the American people’s acceptance of it which led to the election of Barak Obama.

I’ll have to disagree on Iraq. In the long run, I expect Iraq will devolve to somewhere near the norm of other arab-muslim countries.
The public opinion is to get out, and without a permanent occupation, it will be left to the locals to work matters out like arab-muslims normally do.
But I hope it works out well. Don’t get me wrong on that.
If it works out badly, Bush gets the blame. If it works out well Obama gets the credit.
I recall at the time of Iraq I, it was the Powell doctrine to have a measure (metric) for when your clear objective was accomplished, and to have an exit plan. Bush I followed that doctrine precisely.
Bush II apparently never embraced or practiced it. America as a nation dislikes war, expecially discretionary ones—as we have had to relearn.

I will temper this much. Whatever he did was not strong enough, and it is results that matter.
The GOP had majorities in both houses until 2006. Budgets and legislation came from GOP led committees.
Had the Bush led GOP felt it important enough, more could have and should have been done.
He had an Attorney General who could have investigated the mortgage industry. He had an SEC chairman who could have made the case for unsafe securities.
Bush is cannot be portrayed as having no responsibility for it, simply because warning letters are written.

Unless and until the electorate decides to vote responsibly, i.e., actually researching what they're told by the news media, we're in deep trouble.
We sent our children of to fight and die, and kill to preserve our rights to eat pizza and pretend the world was not at war.
From my perspective, the blood and steel was raining from the sky every week in this town as the Jihadi blew up school buses and movie theaters. And that did not stop UNTIL AMERICA went to war! I have not heard a bomb here in Jerusalem for over two years. Get the picture, before the war was entered by America, I heard the bombs and screams in this city, from my bedroom window.
If Bush had not sent America to War, you could have heard the bombs and screams of the victims like me from your bedroom window.
It is a sound you never forget. Not having those memorys is a privilege that you have that I no longer have, and it was purchased by our kids listening to that sound so you do not have to.

I will always salute George Bush for what he did for America and the world. He bought us 8 more years. And now, seeing the MSM foam at the mouth at Sarah, and do every thing in their considerable power to throw this election, I understand that Bush has been painted in quite a different color than he actually is.
Bush is a hero, and I believe that history will show him as such. And I am just as guilty as anyone here in Bush bashing, if you take a look at my posts.

However, we have had an unrelenting drumbeat from the MSM of vile negativity, just as we did with President Reagan. President Bush also split the base away from him with several key blunders, most especially with his strong support for illegal immigration which was hugely unpopular with his own constituents, and with his handling of the recent financial problems.

Headstrong and impulsive, McCain, like a novice candidate, did not delegate campaign management to his organization but insisted on making (and sometimes suddenly reversing) many key campaign decisions. His long time habit was to do so through telephone calls in between campaign events.
When this was vetoed by aide Steven Schmidt after the convention, McCain insisted on presiding over large, unstructured weekend meetings that veered from topic topic. This slowed decision making — to crippling effect considering the exigencies of a major political campaign.
Even at that, if McCain might well have won if he had criticized and voted against the bailout. By doing so, he could have tapped into public angst over the the cost and expansion of federal power.
Instead, McCain declared the economy sound, but then, as if a dire emergency was at hand, suspended his campaign and jumped into the middle of the issue before the first debate. After that bit of ill chosen grandstanding, McCain owned both the economic problem and the unappealing bailout as the solution. His standing in the polls never recovered.

I don't expect you to be a part of it. In fact, I will do everything in my power to make sure you are not a part of it.
There was not one of the major contenders for the nomination that I would not have supported. Not one. Because I know that across this broad and diverse country there are differences as well as commonalities. That's why we have primaries. The candidates were vetted, probed and prodded. McCain came out on top. He wasn't the pick of te RNC, he was the pick of the people in the primary states, Northeast, South, Midwest and Southeast.
The objections that you had with McCain were nothing short of stark, raving lunacy. We can put up with some lunacy in exchange for support but when we get the lunacy and no support, we have a situation that calls for a parting of the ways. You are not going to sit out an election and then walk back in demanding the right to name a nominee. No, sir. Hit the road. There are other parties out there more suited to what you are looking for.
We have our Order of Battle and your name is not on it.

The contrast will be clearly seen in leadership quality in just a few short months...the quality of life under a real leader and under a boob like the one that just got elected.

Hell is paved with good intentions. I never doubted Bush’s intentions, but Bush suffered by trying to be all things to all men. Whatever you may think of Bush’s approval ratings you must acknowledge such low ratings had to include both liberal and conservative Republicans. By failing to exercise his veto powers more freely Bush conveyed an image of weakness which fully exploited by the MSM and the liberals.

You nailed it exactly right, we have not been given a chance to vote conservative for a long time. With my tin foil had on, I would say that was intentional.
This election showed one thing to me beyond dispute. This plan with Acorn, the Media, the high placed politicians in control of checking voter fraud blocking that very thing, with the liberal judges in place to make outrageous rulings in to block all opposition to the take over? Not an accident. While we were out fighting wars overseas, the enemy got behind the lines.
There were tens of thousands of contracts opened as puts against the SnP. (SPY) BEFORE the market crash. Someone with a lot of money and the inside scoop knew the market was going to crash. The volume spikes just before market close was not covering shorts, it was manipulation to feed the panic in the MSM.
The market was crashed by those who set up this election years ago. It was crashed to put Obama in office. Obama is a nobody, a senator with no history and no power.
Obama is a sock puppet, and the people who did this, and set up this election are quite willing to trash everybodys future for their power now. It does not bode well for our future, our new Master is willing to starve his slaves.
We were given a leftist to vote for in the Republican Party, and the Democrats fielded a Marxist.
We have been flim-flamed. And all that is left is to pay the piper for last nights dance in the streets.
