Murtha Wins Re-Election (thanks in part to NRA advertising)

PHILADELPHIA -- Seventeen-term Congressman John Murtha has won re-election in southwestern Pennsylvania. With over half the vote in, he has 58 percent of the vote.

Centre County GOP chairman Glenn Thompson has won the state's only open congressional seat.

In northwestern Pennsylvania, seven-term Republican Rep. Phil English is trailing Democratic political newcomer Kathy Dahlkemper. She has nearly 53 percent of the vote.

More crappy news. But what you may not know is that te NRA has ran wall to wall radio ads the last couple of days touting Murtha's pro-2nd amendment record. Which would be OK except that Bill Russell is even stronger on the 2nd amendment. This is the closest that s.o.b. Murtha has ever come to getting beat. Let's take him out in 2010!

My understanding of NRA political endorsement (if it hasn’t changed in the years since I canceled my membership) - if two candidates otherwise have the same “grade” with the NRA, then they automatically endorse the incumbent.

It is true that they ran a lot of adds in support of Jack Murtha. Don't be down on the NRA. They are a one issue organization and Murtha has an A rating from them. He's also pro life. What a lot of people in the rest of the country don't realize is that in western Pa even the democrats that are here are pro life and pro gun. They are not left wing liberals. That's how they keep getting elected. Murtha is a jackass and I'm ashamed to say he was a Marine. However, as far as gun rights go he will protect our second amendment rights. That's all that the NRA is concerned with.

I went to the NRA’s website. Copied and pasted NRA’s Murtha endorsement in their contact block and added...

“I will not support an organization who endorsed Murtha. Any correspondance from you to me will go into the trash unopened.”

I have been an NRA member for many years and that’s how this old man feels.

If that is the policy, I could live with it even if I don't agree with it. But this was more than an endorsement. It was actively running radio ads in support of this traitorous POS with the clear implication that the challenger was NOT supportive of the second amendment.

They need to be called to account for this!

Their endorsements are based solely on the candidates’ answers to their questionaire. They endorsed my LibTard Congresscritter as well. That doesn’t mean I voted for him. He won with 86%, anyway. It’s a gimmick the Left uses more and more...be pro-gun and pro-veteran and the Old Guard Democrats will support you. Consider NRA membership, anyway. Your dues can’t be used for political purposes, and huge NRA numbers piss off the Left.
