Funny how his senility and dishonorableness developed at the exact same time, and at just the moment that Hitchens endorsed McCain's opponent.

Laura Ingraham is going to smack this fool down. She has Hitchens on her show a lot. She already did go after him big time when she was on O’Reilly subbing for Bill. She basically accused him of giving up all his convictions on the WOT, etc. to vote for a man who would surrender the US to terrorists. IIRC, Hitchens also had issues with Palin, to which Laura rebutted she has more experience than Obama.
Better a senile sailor than an empty suit!
One of those sensitivities being a bias for so-called secular Palestinians like Khalidi over anyone who remotely supports Zionism; a manifestation of his antipathy for religion. He was really good friends with Edward Said, the poster child for secular Palestinian nationalism.
Dershowitz is Israel's man on the secular left, not Hitchens unfortunately, who would be a veritable ally if he could get over the left's innate dislike of all things Israeli.
Did not read article. Did Hitchens actually write this tommyrot? This is crap! He'll probably be out of it until Wednesday afternoon.
Hitchens is another person with Palin Derangement Syndrome. I’ll explain.
On the one hand, Hitchens, to his great credit, repeatedly wrote in praise of Bush’s and McCain’s support for the Iraq war effort, for a strong vigilence against Iran, etc. Unlike so many others on the left, Hitchens frequently criticized Obama — 6 months or so ago, and earlier — for Obama’s naivete in foreign policy and other matters. (Needless to say, Hitchens, who is an avowed socialist, has few problems with Obama’s domestic/ financial plans.)
On the other hand, once McCain picked Palin — or, in any event, “in recent months” — I’ve not seen Hitchens say ONE WORD against Obama, and instead he’s 100% anti-McCain/Palin. I’m not accusing Hitchens of changing his mind about Iraq/ Iran/ etc., but rather wonderrrring why Hitchens suddenly can’t seem to remember that Those Issues Matter, Not Just The Fact That You Hate Palin.
He’s a naturalized US citizen.
You sure do start a lot of threads for not having been here too long, “Higgy Baby”.
A few reasons to suspect Obama has Attention Deficit, the criteria for ADHD symptoms from;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention-deficit_hyperactivity_disorder
.
1. Often forgetful in daily activities.
Example: Obama says “ahhhhh” all the time when he isn’t scripted
.
2. Often avoids, dislikes, or doesnt want to do things that take a lot of mental effort for a long period of time (such as schoolwork or homework).
Example: Obama stayed less than 1 day in Iraq to study what was happening on the ground
.
3. Often has trouble keeping attention on tasks or play activities.
Example: Joe Bidens observations;
Biden wasnt always defending Obama...

On Aug. 1, 2007, when Obama unveiled his counterterrorism agenda, the Biden camp fired off a snarky email congratulating him for his Johnny-come-lately position on Afghanistan, noting that during two Foreign Relations Committee hearings on Afghanistan and other subjects, Obama didnt ask questions about the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or Afghanistan.
.
4. Often forgetful in daily activities.
Example: Obama says he doesnt pay much attention to McCains campaign adds, yet he knows what isnt in them,

I wouldn’t be surprised. People with actually ADHD (not just six year olds with a lot of energy), actually diagnosable ADHD, when there brains develop they have certain parts of their brain develop at slower/faster rates.
The part of the brain that process speech develops at a quicker rate than the brain. (OBama’s ability to speak well, at least on a TelePrompter anyway could come from that).
Also, parts of the brain (the lining of it) that don’t develop is the front part of the brain (frontal lobe, also called the executive function) as quickly (or in the case of adults the fact that the delay is caused has permanent effects) and cause that person to exhibit hasty or seemly thought out speech/actions. Causes a lot of Foot in mouth syndrome.

What is Compulsive Lying?

There are a number of reasons that people lie. The first is fear. This is the most common reason that people may lie, and they are taking shelter from a perceived punishment. It may be because they know they have done something wrong a single time, in which case it is not compulsive lying.
But if they are always in fear of being punished, it may become a habit, which is a second reason for lying. In this case, it may become compulsive lying, which is lying by reflex. Even when confronted by the truth, they insist the lie is the truth in this case.
A third case is learning to lie through modeling. When a people see others lie, especially when they get away with it, they may become more prone to lying.
Finally, people lie because they feel if they tell the truth they won’t get what they want. Thus, out of the main reasons for lying, only lying by habit can truly be called “compulsive lying.”
Increased lying has been seen with a number of psychiatric diagnoses such as ADHD and Bipolar Disorder. With ADHD people will often say “I don’t know why I did that”, and when confronted about why they lied, their answer will be the same.
ADHD children also display impulsivity, and they may lie implusively. Bipolar Disorder can be associated with low serotonin levels, which has been implicated in impulsivity, which, as indicated before, makes a person more prone to lie.
Z”PertoniusMaximus: Hitchens is a drunken fag”
Sen. McCain has performed well in campaign speeches and debates, he certainly masks it well. Perhaps Hitchens, as you suggest, is the one with a problem. Perhaps Hitchens should check into ... 11 Ways To Expand Your Mind And Recover From Brain Rot|Zen Habits.
Hitchens is projecting.
And he wrote well and convincingly. He could make a bulletproof case, while demolishing even well reasoned counterarguments. All in a postable essay, agreeable to read in one sitting. I know he's a weird one, but he's a damn good essayist. I'll miss him. All things must pass, I guess.
The man who claimed he so admired America’s written Constitution will now participate in its destruction.
I’d rather have a senile President than a communist one....
Why post articles written by the mentally incompetent?
Is that the polite way of saying he's a Drama Queen?
It has, IMO, nothing to do with "sensitivities," but everything to do with intellectual elitism.
The best takedown I've seen of Hitchens was by Victor David Hanson, on the subject of Buchanan's book on WWII. Hitchens' defense of Buchanan wasn't based on Buchanan's reasoning, as much as it was on the fact Rush Limbaugh was quoted as a rebuttal of Buchanan's conclusion. Hitch recoiled in horror -- at Limbaugh. In the end, he was forced to concede to Rush's point, via Hanson's logic and knowledge of history. (It's in the NRO archives of Peter Robinson's video series if you're interested.)
It's too bad that we don't have the equivalent of W.J. Buckley around today. Hitch wouldn't have a prayer. (Pun most definitely intended.)
Interestingly, Hitchens' brother is an evangelical Christian. Christopher Hitchens has been spending a lot of time with Christians recently in his debates with pastor/author Doug Wilson. After the debate in Philadelphia last week, Hitchens went with the faculty of Westminster Seminary for a round beers at a local pub. I am certain that only Hitchens got drunk.
