What I find offensive is this:

Track, the first-born and oldest son, was given that name because of the family’s longstanding interest in sports. Sarah’s parents were coaches, Todd was a high school athlete and Sarah is an avid runner. Their first child was born during the track season.

Do you normally name a child after a athletic event?

Bristol, the oldest daughter, is named after Bristol Bay, an area where Todd grew up. Bristol Bay is also the site of the family’s commercial fishing interests.

Why didn’t she name the child, say Mount Everest?
Or Bay of Pigs? Each is impersonal. I find it down right ODD.

Willow is the name of a small community in Alaska relatively close to Wasilla.

Why not name the kid San Franciso?
Or Philadelphia? It’s WIERD.

Piper may have come from the name of the popular bush plane the Piper Cub, which is commonly used in Alaska. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine Todd was quoted as saying “there’s just not too many Pipers out there and it’s a cool name.”

Maybe she should have named her child VW or Jet?

Being named “Willard” after the best friend of his father is an honor. We often name our children after PEOPLE, NOT OBJECTS that we respect and ADMIRE. Perhaps this is FOREIGN to you?

His middle name, Mitt, was in honor of his COUSIN, Milton Romeny who was also an accomplished football player. Again, his name is after PEOPLE, NOT THINGS or PLACES.
