There have always been media biases and prejudices. Everyone knew that Walter Cronkite, from his gilded throne at CBS news, helped to alter the course of the Vietnam War, when, in the post-Tet depression, he prematurely declared the war unwinnible. Dan Rathers career imploded when he knowingly promulgated a forged document that impugned the service record of George W. Bush. Weve known for a long time from various polling, and records of political donations of journalists themselves, as well as surveys of public perceptions that the vast majority of journalists identify themselves as Democratic, and liberal in particular.
Yet we have never quite seen anything like the current media infatuation with Barack Obama, and its collective desire not to raise key issues of concern to the American people. Here were four areas of national interest that were largely ignored.
CAMPAIGN FINANCING For years an axiom of the liberal establishment was the need for public campaign financing and the corrosive role of private money in poisoning the election process. The most prominent Republican who crossed party lines to ensure the passage of national public campaign financing was John McCain a maverick stance that cost him dearly among conservatives who resented bitterly federal interference in political expression.
In contrast, Barack Obama, remember, promised that he would accept both public funding and the limitations that went along with it, and would aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election. Then in June 2008, Obama abruptly reneged, bowing out entirely from government financing, the first presidential nominee in the general election to do that since the system was created in 1976.

The only thing more disheartening is the MSM's blantant cheerleading for the Messiah. If Obama does win and tilts as far to the left as most on here fear, then rather than being the post-partisan President who bridges divides, we will be in for a very scary future.
That’s precisely why “journalism” within the MSM is dying. They don’t stand a chance against what’s going on in cyberspace. And this election stands to prove it.
It isn’t dying, it’s mutating into something venomous.
No, It had already happened by 1968.
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure. Thomas Jefferson

Now the journey has reached its end. Happily, consumers of news and opinion now have much wider choices and the liberal gatekeepers have lost their monopoly. In reaction, liberals in and out of the media have talked about reimposing the “Fairness Doctrine”. If this were to happen, we could see the death of AM radio, and the rise of internet or satellite radio.
Whatever happens, one thing is certain: fewer people want to pay for liberal news and opinion than presently do.
Now, if we could only free consumers of education services so they have a wide choice of providers. I think it is an easy call to predict that fewer people want liberal indoctrination than present enrollment figures indicate.
A decent argument can be made that there never was such a thing as non-partisan “journalism.” The ability of the internet to circumvent the Drive-By’s monopoly on information distribution has merely exposed the lie for all to see.
Substitute American people for media and you are dead right.
First they come with pies, then they run out of bakers, then they run out of pies ... and come back with censorship ... and then they run out of patience ... and come back with coercion ... and then they come back with gulags ... and then assassinations. It's all in Ayers hate filled rant of a book.
Because Socialism never works.
I doubt anyone has missed it - It’s been posted some 10 times - but if anyone has not read “Would the last honest journalist please turn on the light?” - then I suggest you look it up and read it.
Even if you HAVE read it.... read it again.
