The decent and honorable thing to do would be to resign the day after the election, particularly if Obama wins and wins big. This is "taking responsibility" for the ruling party's defeat. So that Dick Cheney can at least have on his experience that he was President of the United States; considering the terrorist threats that will ramp up with an Obama win, I would rather have President Cheney captain the ship for the remaining three months than W. We can have at least two solid months of knowing our enemies wont screw with us. Mr. Bush is tired and grey and ought to call it a day.

I would love to see Cheney also nominate Sarah Palin to fill out his remaining term of two months as Vice President. When Palin runs in four years for President, she would be referred to as former Vice President Palin, I lke that a lot better--and would be the defacto leader of the Party.

Of course this is a conservative's dream, that a RINO would give up such power willingly to the true, rightful core of the Party.

Good God. The man defeated terrorism against the wishes of the entire world, strengthens the SCOTUS and many other benches, and has had many many accomplishments.

Failing to secure our borders and curb illegal immigration - ALSO unforgivable

I don’t think it would be helpful for Sarah to have the stink of the Bush Administration on her. If she runs in 4 years, they will not be able to link her to Bush.

Of course, the Dems have a LOT of blame over this economy thing, if not even more than Bush.

The Democrats are almost totally to blame.

Let’s admit it. He turned out to be an idiot. He doesn’t have a clue.

The job was too big for him and he knew it. He always looked like he couldn’t wait to get out of meetings because he knew he was overwhelmed.

I think all he really cared about was working out.

We made a big mistake with him.

Winning, yes, but after initially TERRIBLE and foolish judgement calls, and screw ups and unecessary deaths of our fighting men. Somebody has to take responsibility for this massive f-ups.

No, fighting makes up for all of that. Every commander-in-chief is going to screw up at some point. There were whole lot more F-ups in WWII and the Civil War.

We have a lot of traitors in this country and backstabbers and those who put self ahead of country. Dubya's biggest flaw was not recognizing this and acting on it.

I’ll definitely give him credit for his (eventual) Supreme Court nominees, most of his lower court nominees and his leadership immediately after the terrorist attacks in 2001.

He’s NOT kept his eye on the “prize” in the OVERALL, long-term war on terrorism, though. Too much emphasis on Iraq.

I would too versus any Democrat I know of and I suspect you’re right about the 2nd part too, though it might take more that 20 years.

If he would have taken a hard line on illegal immigration and acted like a fiscal conservativ he would leave office with a 60% or better approval rating.

By Webster’s definition, he’s only a “Lame Duck” between the election and the inauguration, just thought I’d mention that.

If you were President Bush reading the morning international intelligence reports, my gosh, you would know that TERRORISM HAS NOT BEEN DEFEATED. Where did you get that concept. Get real.

Do you realize how much North Korea has built up and proliferated for eight years under that jerk, particularly his last two years of ABJECT PANDERING OF NORTH KOREA through Condi Rice and Christopher Hill and career State Department people, on the level of Madeline Albright.

The man just removed North Korea from the list of Terrorist Nations! for petes sake.

Terrorism has been defeated my ass. We have them on the run in a few places, but it has not been defeated, and is worse in some other areas of the world, including our gaping national security risk right on our Southern Border.

I had not thought of that. The Dems would like her to President Cheney, wouldnt they. But, after four years of Obama, most people would probably look at Cheney-Palin as having been something GOOD, albeit too brief (three months).

With two bad legs, a broken arm, one bad eye, hearing impairment and a stuffy nose, the lame duck conducted a fantastically successful raid into Syria

I partly blame his policies (socialism mainly), but I mostly blame his PR staff for not challenging a lot of the garbage the press said about him.

But then there is that pesky "...new tone" policy. His PR people did exactly what he wanted. It even filtered down to Congress. Sen. Frist and Rep. Hastert did this nation no favors.

GWB was the Republican establishment’s choice back in 2000. He has many shortcomings—immigration, big spender, tin ear.

However, I’d still vote for him over Al Gore. Or John Kerry. Or especially Barack Obama.

He should stop the frequent statements to the press. Every day that he spoke about the financial mess, McCain’s numbers were taking a hit.

In your earlier posts you mentioned how you don’t want to see a Bush near the Presidency again.

I don’t think we have to worry about that. When the old man started weeping in public about how ‘unfair’ it was that Jeb wouldn’t get his turn at the Presidency, I think their ruse was up. From Reagan to this.

But I can honestly say, that now I don’t feel bitterness or resignation so much as pity. I feel pity for this deluded guy. When he’s out there, in the real world, trying to ‘replenish his coffers’ I think he is going to be shocked at the reaction he gets when he accidentally has to interact with real folks.
