I really can’t be around an Obama supporter without wanting to debate them all the time.
You've hit on what often works for me when dealing with liberal friends: humor. I have little use for people with underdeveloped senses of humor, whether they be liberal or conservative.Yup. Try greeting your liberal friends with "What's up babykiller?". If they respond with "Not sure, how many Iraqi civilians did you kill today?" your friendship is on firm footing.
“I have a co-worker that is crying racism. We crackers are lost at how to deal with this.”
Quite frankly, there’s nothing you can do. Don’t even bother.
ANYthing you say in defense of a position that THEY regard as “offensive” will immediately result in you [crackers, all of you!] being labeled as “bigots”, “racists”, “intolerant”, etc. Hopefully they will not become so incensed as to file charges against you for “discrimination” with the company’s human relations department.
Yes, the situation is unfair. Blacks can say essentially ANYthing they wish regarding race relations, and their perceived wrongs committed against them by whites. But you cannot speak up and create a dialogue in return, in fear of being labeled a racist simply for responding honestly.
So much for “diversity”. It’s been coming on like this for 45 years.
One thinks that the results of this election - particularly if McCain wins - is going to topple this shibboleth over with a resounding crash....

I'll see your "half of my large family" and raise you ALL but one brother of my large family! LOL
“Obamazioids are under a hypnotic, cultish spell,..”
You may not be far off on this point. Rush was mentioning the style of speech Obama has perfected which does tend to “hypnotize” hearers. It’s an actual style with a specific name. Those most susceptible to this type of speaking are (1) children, and (2) highly eductated people. Truth.
My main thought is the GOP as a party needs to take itself back to a party that can be respected for standing on it's own merit rather than a Me Too but just not as much copy of the DEMs. The last POTUS election with candidates that were truly nearly opposites was in 1980 and 1984. The GOP Congress as well won landslides in 1994 not by being Me Too party but by a clear distancing itself from such and setting it's own course.
The GOP's failures began when as a majority they stopped acting as such and adapted themselves to being the Me Too party following the DEM's cues. This happened in a period of months between the 1994 congressional election and the 1996 POTUS election. The GOP as a result never recovered.
There are "some" pubbies worth saving....
And I agree...there are hundreds of pubbies that aren't worth spit.
But I am not going to shoot the lot of them to prove a point....And I am not going to lose a war.....because a battle seems so important.
FRegards,
Copy that.
"Obamazoids" is a new one for me. I think it describes their Borg-hive mentality perfectly.
Doesn't it amaze you sometimes that you never, ever get a well-reasoned, and fact laden argument from your liberal friends and family?
Must be something in the Kool-Aid.
One can’t be a good friend and also support Obama. The two are mutually exclusive.
Man, I'm sorry to hear that. It seems that someone has poisoned your grandkids' minds with the whole race agenda.
My kids are all halfies, but they're being raised as Americans, not racial bodies. Identity politics is the politics of division, and cuts square against our nation's abiding motto, which is E Pluribus Unum.
Oh, yes, it happened to me. 99 times out of a hundred, it’s the liberal who stalks off in anger.
I had a friend of 30 years who stopped speaking to me just because I was a Republican. I didn’t even discuss it with her. We had other things in common and I asked her several times not to talk politics.
She couldn’t seem to help it. I just ignored her many insults for a long time, but when I finally started telling her how I felt, she just cut me off completely.
Didn’t even ask her sister to let me know when she died.
Maybe she’s in a better place now, with an angelic Obama figure to worship.
He’s showing you he was never a real friend.
No loss.
The dog left you? Wow. The hundred pound black lab, Bubba, is not for Obama, even though he is black.
Unfortunately, he’s not for McCain either and, to make matters worse, he doesn’t care if the Cowboys win or lose.
Oh, well.
I'm black, and I can relate to what you're asking. Here's something I did once when this came up.
I was talking to a young hispanic guy on one of my construction projects, and the guy tells me that he's a "Mexican".
I asked him, "are you a Mexican citizen?" He said, "No."
I then said to him, "Well then, you're an American with Mexican ancestry, like I'm an American with African ancestry. We're both AMERICANS, brother, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise."
His whole demeanor changed after I said that to him. He never replied, but I knew that I had just planted a seed that would one day bear fruit.
“Ive stopped discussing politics with friends I know have opposing viewpoints. While I cant understand how they continue to cling to a party thats been overrun by leftists, their friendship is far more valuable, so I leave it at that.”
same here...
With friends like that....
Whole heartily agree. Liberal acquaintances, relatives, co-workers, of course.
But, how can one be “friends” with someone who believes in abortion, does not support the military, believes in gun control (not criminal control) and judicial activism? Be “friends” with someone who probably does not believe in a Higher Power, and thinks government confiscation and redistribution of our hard earned money is OK?????? NO THANKS. I chose my friends carefully.
My GOP congresscritter in the past couple of weeks lost my long time support. He backed down on the bailout and did not even have the guts to hold to the demands he made being met before he would support it. That was Zack Wamp.
In contrast next district over is John Duncan Jr a long time second generation Republican Congressman. He isn't that well known but he fights the good fight though. As I understand it Duncan was approached by the Constitution Party as well. Duncan said NO and meant NO on the Bailout. He's also said No to Bush on matters when needed. Maybe if they moved the district line by a quater mile my way again I could vote for Duncan. I say this because no matter who the DEM is Wamp will never again see another vote from me. The same for my two U.S. senators Lamar {Rockefeller} Alexander and Bob Corker.
