Half the price.. heck, I remember we went though a bad spot when I was a kid and we had several meals on a 50c bag of beans, and we loved it.
How can you help those truly in need when you define everyone in need as even those like the examples Obama gave.
I’m trying to fine tune a message.. y’all can help..
Basically, trying to create an example on how, if you have $10 and 10 people standing in front of you. One person is a starving, homeless vet, the others are average folks. If you help the starving, homeless vet, he can eat several meals, if you try to help everyone, no one can eat a full meal..
That is an excellent point you’ve made. The value of thrift.
You can help everyone if you change their expectations.
Remember the 50 cent bag of beans?
Check this one out....

Yesterday on my way to lunch at Doe’s, I passed one of the homeless guys in that area, with a sign that read “Vote Obama, I need the money.”
Once in the Doe’s my waiter had on a “Obama 08” tee shirt.
When the bill came, I decided not to tip the waiter and explained to him while he had given me exceptional service, that his tee shirt made me feel he obviously believes in Senator Obama’s plan to redistribute the wealth. I told him I was going to redistribute his tip to someone that I deemed more in need—the homeless guy outside. He stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside, as I had decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful.
As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific redistribution experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn.
Well, I guess this redistribution of wealth is going to take a while to catch on, with those doing the work.
My wife just got done telling me about a teacher trying to get the PTA to give $20 to a few of the kids in class that our poor so they could go on a district-mandated field trip. The PTA was saying how it wouldn’t be fair to give these poor kids the money without giving it to the other kids as well. But then it would cost too much, so nobody was going to get any money. (My wife and the teachers persisted and got the money for the poor kids. The ones on food stamps, free lunch program, etc.) I know when I donate to the PTSA it is understood that it is too help out with books, fun things, and “scholarships” (like the $20) for the kids that can’t afford it. I’d be pretty angry if my kids got the $20 too.
