Forget that. They'd better get ready to fight for the First Amendment.

Yep, satellite/internet will become the "new" shortwave.

Yup..satellite..smaller audience though.

I wonder what percent of Rush listeners tune in via the Internet ..have to pay ..but....

Kucinich was on Fox this AM. He looked like the gestapo at the crematoriums. I’m sure he wants to march us to inner city for slaughter.

Nope. Satellite radio will be just as vulnerable to the "Fairness" Doctrine as any other broadcast. The only way to avoid it would be the internet or offshore transmitters (hunted by the Navy and Coast Guard) as the Exile in Broadcasting Network.

Now entering fantasyland: Maybe a Limbaugh led Cuban counterrevolution and have a counterpart to Radio Marti broadcasting from Free Cuba into the socialist US.

Unchecked power....

And what makes anybody think that satellite radio and the Internet might not be next?

At a certain point, even telephone messages may come under this spreading umbrella. After all, it will be HIS National Security Agency, then, and the old rules that prevent Republicans from using this power will be thrown out.

Dust off all the old tomes on “civil disobedience” so beloved of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, and begin to apply their principles. It may also do to practice up the techniques of carrying on a brisk black market, while avoiding detection and arrest by the authorities.

Look for the internet to be severeky restricted — “it’s for the children” or “there’s a bandwidth shortage!”

I don’t know about Rush being on satellite radio (is he on
Sirius?) but I have XM and you already can find Hannity,
Ingraham, and Levin there. But of course with the FD
back, satellite radio would become the only place to find them.

And this is really an infringement of freedom of the press.
A broadcast radio station can run what it wants, provided nobody swears of course! Can the FCC step in and say that
stations must change format because a certain format is not
on in a given city, or regulate musical content? Can the
government step in and tell The New York Times or
Rolling Stone to have 50 per cent conservative content?

People shouldn’t have to get satellite or internet radio
to hear shows that are very popular (much more popular
than Air America). What succeeds, succeeds. Proof: in
New England, it’s so “blue” that there is exactly ONE
U.S. Rep. who’s a Republican. Yet Air America has largely
failed here, having only stations in southwest Vermont
and western MA. The stations in Boston, Providence,
New Haven, Burlington VT, and Portland ME all changed to
a different format (Spanish, conservative talk, sports,
and women’s talk) because people didn’t want to hear AAR.

And the government will now force unpopular talk shows on us, or...ELSE? Lawyers and media monitors would have to
be brought in to ensure “fairness”. WRKO in Boston can
still have Laura Ingraham, but they’ll have to pick up
Randi Rhodes too. They may still keep Rush but be forced
to also carry Thom Hartmann. As a result, Michael Savage
would be thrown off because there’s no airtime left.
They might even have to “muzzle” their conservative
afternoon guy, Howie Carr, and make sure he only
acts as an impartial moderator, not an outspoken
commentator.

This is tolerance?

XM TALK AND ENTERTAINMENT
165 Talk Radio features Glenn Beck

166 America Right features Liddy, Ingraham, Hannity,
Levin, Michael Reagan, Rusty Humphries

167 America Left—the Air America stuff

168 Fox News Talk: Brian and the Judge, O’Reilly,
John Gibson, Alan Colmes
