Barack Obama has a stunning lack of tolerance for free speech. And one thing Americans can expect from an Obama administration, and a Democratic-controlled Congress, is a legislative attempt to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine, which will limit free speech and diminish the conservative influence on talk radio.
A new ATI-News/Zogby International poll released on Oct. 26 made it clear that those who intend to vote for Obama support re-establishing the Fairness Doctrine.

Look for a lot of off-shoring to take place.
Sean, Liddy, Laura are pretty even in their criticisms of current policy and it would really hurt libertarian and Constitutionally-leaning conservatives to have their voices silenced. Rush, however, has been carrying George W Bush's water for 8 years, never missing a moment to gush about his "accomplishments" and insisting his legacy will be stellar.
There’s probably going to have to be an armed revolt in this country anyway. I hate to say that, but it’s true. Let’s wake up and smell the cordite. Our forefathers did not die on battlefields across this nation and the world so that a Marxist charlatan could be elected president and use an ultra-left Congress to his devices. If Barack Obama does not recognize the sanctity of the Constitution (which he’s admitted already), then he cannot swear to preserve, protect and defend it, and we and the armed forces of the United States are under no obligation to him as a “leader”. Nor are we under any such obligation to a Congress which would give him authority. It’s not a pleasant thought to envision tanks rolling on Washington, D.C., but if the Demofascists bring it to that, then it needs to be done.
People here are applying to much legal sense and logic to Obama and his fascists. Their goal is to STOP opposition media, not simply to ghettoize it. Their rule will be the rule of thugs: anything is permissible, as long as it works.
The left is playing with fire if they try this.
You always hear about riots in LA or liberal protests during conventions, but the conservatives are usually too busy working.
I think the world saw a small glimpse of the right’s strength when angered enough in the 2000 elections.
The election workers brought the ballots upstairs in a locked room to “recount” the votes. Much to their horror the angry conservatives smashed down the doors and stormed inside and there wasnt a damn thing they could do.
Look for the internet to be severeky restricted — “it’s for the children” or “there’s a bandwidth shortage!”
I don’t know about Rush being on satellite radio (is he on
Sirius?) but I have XM and you already can find Hannity,
Ingraham, and Levin there. But of course with the FD
back, satellite radio would become the only place to find them.
And this is really an infringement of freedom of the press.
A broadcast radio station can run what it wants, provided nobody swears of course! Can the FCC step in and say that
stations must change format because a certain format is not
on in a given city, or regulate musical content? Can the
government step in and tell The New York Times or
Rolling Stone to have 50 per cent conservative content?
People shouldn’t have to get satellite or internet radio
to hear shows that are very popular (much more popular
than Air America). What succeeds, succeeds. Proof: in
New England, it’s so “blue” that there is exactly ONE
U.S. Rep. who’s a Republican. Yet Air America has largely
failed here, having only stations in southwest Vermont
and western MA. The stations in Boston, Providence,
New Haven, Burlington VT, and Portland ME all changed to
a different format (Spanish, conservative talk, sports,
and women’s talk) because people didn’t want to hear AAR.
And the government will now force unpopular talk shows on us, or...ELSE? Lawyers and media monitors would have to
be brought in to ensure “fairness”. WRKO in Boston can
still have Laura Ingraham, but they’ll have to pick up
Randi Rhodes too. They may still keep Rush but be forced
to also carry Thom Hartmann. As a result, Michael Savage
would be thrown off because there’s no airtime left.
They might even have to “muzzle” their conservative
afternoon guy, Howie Carr, and make sure he only
acts as an impartial moderator, not an outspoken
commentator.
This is tolerance?

Hell, rush could buy the whole shootin match with his walkin around money!!!!
“...And with each attempt to silence conservatism, the left will only strengthen our resolve. Obama is not big enough...”
Agreed. It’s not going to be that easy for them to do what they want to do. How many conservatives are just going to roll over and give up without a fight? I won’t. How many people are going to allow the leftists to just jam this crap down our throats? Not many I suspect. If we do then we get what we deserve. Maybe this is a long overdue wake up call. Maybe we needed something like this to happen in order to finally get us off our collective duffs and encourage us to fight back. If we want to save this thing for our children and grandchildren then we better be willing to engage in the fight of our lives. We have power in numbers.
My thoughts exactly. And it seems that much of the population are willing to go along with it.
Why should the “(un)Fairness Doctrine” only apply to talk radio? Why can’t it apply to NPR?
(oops, southEAST VT, Brattleboro, I mean!)
“I guess you missed yesterdays show where he endorsed McCain.”
Maybe he is now, but many of the Savage listeners are still going to vote Libertarian. My neighbor for one. My neighbor who is our GOP precienct PCO - who daily sends out anti-Obama and anti-McCain e-mails to his large distribution list. Who said “no-way” when I offered him my extra McCain/Palin sign. He is a daily Savage listener, and he is like many thousands of others. It is a sad thing, because we could really use their votes.
You forgot "She wounds my heart with monotonous languor", and if it comes to that we have the 2nd amendment alternative. The fairness doctrine is the second thing Bozo will attempt, he will go after the supreme court first, revisit the second amendment and try, notice I said try, to take our firearms. Once he has us disarmed he will really cut loose. This has been the intent of all those politicians trying for all those years to take our weapons, to disarm us and implement a total disintegration of the constitution and our rights.
Listen to that 2001 interview, he says right there that he intends to trash the constitution because it is a document of "negative" freedoms.
Don’t put it past the Dems to expand the FCC’s purview to Sirius/XM. Remember, to the left, the 1st Amendment is their to serve THEM, not the ideal of a a citizen’s right to free speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, or freedom to associate. It goes to the heart of what Obama was talking about in the 2001 radio interview released yesterday.
