I have to go out but will do more investigation when I get back home.
Mara Vanderslice - like the avowed Marxist Obama - they must masquerade as what they are not (steal their way) to get into the “mainstream”.
A bunch of Marxists spend years gaining acceptance as “Christians”, or whatever, not to be what such authentic so-identified persons are, but to use the label, as “Christian”, or whatever, for their Marxist political agendas.
NO TRUE CHRISTIAN WOULD SUPPORT THIS INDIVIDUAL!
Do Christian radio stations, or anyone else, have to accept these ads? I would think that any biblically-based Christian stations would refuse them. And if they don’t, they ought to hear about it from their advertisers and financial supporters, pronto. Otherwise the Church has no one to blame but itself. Like someone said, this a “Jews for Hitler” type of operation.
This is taking the Lord’s name in vain.

During church on Sunday, some group (God Bless them) put pamphlets on all the vehicles in the parking lot which basically questioned whether is is "moral" for a candidate to be so radically promoting abortion, as does Obama.
It couched its "debate" in terms of whether (the pamphlet reader) would willingly give a friend a ride to the local bank if you knew that person was going to rob the bank, kill the bank tellers to eliminate witnesses, and then ask for help in the getaway.
The pamphlet, which seemed to be from a Catholic organization, actually framed the same "ride" question three different ways.
Would you give a ride to a friend if you knew that friend was going to simply watch the bank robbery, and afterwards give police a false description of the robber in order to distract them from finding the real robber.
It was a powerful and well-crafted argument, and I am glad that devout Christians are outwardly joining the public debate on political morality and society.
I only hope that anyone in my ethnically diverse church (1700 members) who is thinking of voting Obama would change their minds.
My church is connected to the Assemblies of God, and the pastor delivers a very fundamental Bible-based message each week ... Christ crucified, redemption, Salvation....
But I fear that many of the members are drawn to the same skin factor that attracts so many minorities to Obama.
This is a non sequitir: “Christian” and “Obama” do not fit as synonyms. The fruit isn’t there.
If babies had feathers they’d be a protected species . Are we sure they are really Christians ? Not all Rolex watches are real .
Freepers should send our post on this group, Matthew25, to any Christian radio stations they know or listen to.
Amen to that on your comment. McLaren doesn’t believe in Christ, that He is the Son of God.

Progressive Revival
They are trying to expand the definition of what constitutes a religious issue beyond just gays and abortion, to include matters like poverty, the environment, social justice, and AIDS/HIV.

Mara Vanderslice founded Common Good in 2005 and later brought on Eric Sapp, thirty, as a partner.
Vanderslice had worked on a couple of Democratic presidential campaigns
Vanderslice and Sapp began by helping candidates build the infrastructure necessary to reach religious voters
Common Good helped recruit pastors to write op-eds in response to criticisms and arranged for campaigns to buy mailing lists of religious-minded voters. Vanderslice and Sapp encouraged candidates to buy ads on Christian radio, a medium considered more intimate than television.

So what’s a feminist of faith to do? A small number of progressive religious women agree with their male bosses and are content. Mara Vanderslice, for example, went from a staff job working for Jim Wallis to become the religious point person for Kerry. Kate Michelman, former president of NARAL, recalls how Vanderslice cornered her at the Democratic convention and sought her help in convincing Catholics that Kerry was really against abortion. Others have followed the time-honored path of faithful accompaniment. They join the groups and try to gently prod the men, but in the interest of a partial but important justice agenda, they go along. And still others, particularly feminist clergy and theologians, have shunned the discriminatory world of religion, including progressive religion, to work in secular organizations for a social justice agenda that includes women’s and gay rights.

Kerry’s Religion Director Linked to Anti-Catholic Group
NewsMax.com’s Fr. Michael Reilly says there’s something rotten about Sen. John Kerry’s strategy to win the religious vote.
What was John Kerry thinking when he appointed Mara Vanderslice as his Director of Religious Outreach?
Catholic League president William Donohue finds her a curious choice:
“Heres what we know about John Kerrys religious outreach person. Mara Vanderslice was raised without any faith and didnt become an evangelical Christian until she attended Earlham College, a Quaker school known for its adherence to pacifism.
“When in college, Mara was active in the Earlham Socialist Alliance, a group that supports the convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal and openly embraces Marxism-Leninism.
“After graduating, Mara spoke at rallies held by ACT-UP, the anti-Catholic group that disrupted Mass at St. Patricks Cathedral in 1989 by spitting the Eucharist on the floor. In 2000, she practiced civil disobedience when she took to the streets of Seattle in a protest against the World Trade Organization. In 2002, she tried to shut down Washington, D.C. in a protest against the IMF and the World Bank.”
Mara Vanderslice (founder of Matthew 25 Network), a Christian activist and political organizer, was the religious outreach coordinator for the Dean for America presidential campaign

Leftist Group Seeks To Use God Talk To Lure Christians To Democrat Party
February 1, 2007 A two-year-old public relations firm called Common Good Strategies is working behind the scenes to help Democrats convince Christians that they should vote for Democrats of faith.
The PR firm is headed by Mara Vanderslice, a 1997 graduate of Earlham College. Vanderslice formerly worked as an intern for Jim Wallis Sojourners organization, a far-leftist Christian group that is attempting to convince moderate or conservative Christians that Democrat policies are best for achieving social justice.
Jim Wallis has been consulting with Democrat strategists for years to lure Christians away from the Republican Party. TVCs special report on Wallis reveals the consistent far left policies of the group which have been more in line with the old Soviet Union than with America.
While at Earlham, Vanderslice was a member of the Earlham Socialist Alliance, a group that supports the release of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal and embraces Marxist-Leninist political views.
In a feature on Vanderslice in the Earlham College Alumni Bulletin, Vanderslice notes she grew up in a spiritual but not religious and politically progressive home in Boulder, Colorado. She arrived at Earlham distrustful of Christianity but after taking Peace and Global Studies class and spending time in Bogota, Columbia, she became more committed to strands of Christianity that she found appealing.
Vanderslice has spoken at rallies held by the radical homosexual group ACT-UP and has been involved in protests against the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Vanderslice became Howard Deans faith advisor and later served as John Kerrys advisor on faith issues.
Her group, Common Good Strategies has worked with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Senator Bob Casey, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland; the Kansas Democrat Party and others. All of Vanderslices clients won in 2006.
Mara Vanderslices attempt to convince Christians to vote for pro-abortion, pro-homosexual Democrats (who hide their real goals behind claims of faith) is working and the Republican Party should take note, said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. Tragically, Vanderslices brand of progressive Christianity has more in common with Marxist-Leninist ideals than with orthodox Christianity. I pray that Christians will not be fooled in 2008 as many were in 2006. Because many evangelicals voted for liberals in 2006, we face a Congress that is openly hostile to biblical values.
WOW, thanks for this background information!
What are they emerging from? No Christian could vote for Obama in good conscience.
Pied Piper to Hell
One cannot ‘nuance’ the faith to support Obama. One is either seriously deluded or a christian in mind only.
