Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers, some of whom are currently working for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin's bid for the White House, have been involved in spreading ant-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election. "Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012," says one former Romney aide, now working for McCain-Palin. "The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney. He's in charge on November 5th."

This is not FROM Romney, it’s from some loser staffers.
Sheesh, beat up Mitt if you want, but at least make sure he personally deserves it.
Perhaps Juan "Bipartisan" McCain should do that too ;)
If Romney had anything to do with this, if it's EVEN true (I doubt it is), I would join the folks who despise him.
“They are probably behind EVERY smear since Sarah was chosen”
These are the me, me, me RINO crowd that we don’t need in the Republican party. We need people that will put their country ahead of being self-centered, self-important, Aholes. Most have too much education and too little common sense. That’s why common sense (PALIN) and the great unwashed (average Americans) scare the crap out of them. They suddenly find out that academic credentials don’t always make you the smartest kid on the block.
BINGO
the rare times I have spotted Mitt, he was supportive and promoting the Republican ticket...this is a petty thread. Glad to see you two stand up for him.
Romney is not, nor will he ever be, in contention. People in the midlands and Texas just don’t connect to him. The suit’s too good, the hair’s too perfect.
He just seems slick and untrustworthy.
I’ve wondered about the cult-like Romney following. To most, it seems it isn’t about principles, politics, conservatism, or ideals — its about Mitt Romney, his life, and his career.
Its kind of a weird cult of personality ... for a guy without much personality. Don’t get me wrong — I like Romney fine. I’d vote for him in a general election without hesitation. And, I think he’s probably more conservative than his Massachusetts record indicates.
But ... Reagan he is not. He’s stuffy, and not a terribly compelling speaker. He looks and acts like a “politician” from central casting. There are much more compelling figures on the right ... I just don’t get the devoted following he has.

So, Mitt’s people have conceded the election to Obama; huh? Sounds like Mitt has gotten his “Mormon underwear” in a wad over the thought that Sarah will be the ‘12 nominee.
BullCrap it is...Democrat Psychological warfare parrotted by some dubious Freeperettes. We need to just grow up and ignore this type of crap disinfo.
What is “cult-like” about not choosing to believe an anonymous source, when I’ve heard Romney defend Palin with his own mouth? At this stage, with the crap I’ve heard come out of the MSM - I choose to be skeptical, instead of immediately unloading on Romney - who was not my first choice, by the way.
Oh yeah, and you guys left out that he’s a MORMON too.
Who’s that in the gay bike helmet?
ASSUME ALL BAD STUFF IS FROM DEMS AND ACT ACCORDINGLY.
Agreed. Don’t paint stripes on a horse.
Post 88 is written without regard for this issue, more on what I see as objective fact.
>> What is cult-like about not choosing to believe an anonymous source, when Ive heard Romney defend Palin with his own mouth?
That’s not the “cult-like” following to which I was referring. I was referring to those followers that might be smearing Palin in an attempt to better Romney’s 2012 chances. You’re right to question the reports ... but, even if the reports are inaccurate, this wouldn’t be my first encounter with an obsessed Romney devotee. Doesn’t seem too out-of-character for some.
>> At this stage, with the crap Ive heard come out of the MSM - I choose to be skeptical, instead of immediately unloading on Romney - who was not my first choice, by the way.
I didn’t unload on Romney. I unloaded on some of his followers.
>> Oh yeah, and you guys left out that hes a MORMON too.
Couldn’t care less.

I call B.S. Maybe some former Romney staffers are saying this but I’m not sure how this gets tied back to Romney. Romney dropped out for party loyalty. Surely he had the money to go on. And I’ve never seen Romney be anything but 100% supportive toward the McCain/Palin ticket unlike others GOPers like Tom Ridge.
Also the reality is, if McCain loses (I still think he can/will pull it out) but IF then there is no de facto leader of the GOP. In fact the GOP will probably, unfortunately, be torn into a million pieces. I think Romney understands that.
Honestly, I expect the left wing MSM to try to demoralize the GOP right now, but I what I really resent is so-called conservative media like the Spectator, like some at NR, and others over on the WSJ editorial page back biting at this point. They are the one’s I really can’t tolerate any longer and don’t pay attention to.
Let’s let this race play out before we start shooting at each other. OK?
What would he have to gain if the ticket lost? Hum; a job as a mouthpiece for a losing ticket and a marginalized party? Wouldnt he be better served by supporting the ticket and getting a cabinet post or being head of the party that won?
Sounds like perhaps a few disgruntled and zealot former staffers who are still miffed that Romney didnt get the nomination or the VP slot; anonymous and unnamed staffers at that. Are we talking high level staffers or some nominal paid campaign worker who spent a few hours a week manning the phones?
And what about the Huckabee wanna bes? If I recall correctly, some of Hucks supporters (even some here on FR) voiced similar concerns and dissatisfaction because their guy didnt make the cut.
And I dont see Huckabee stumping for the McCain-Palin ticket because hes too busy now with his Fox weekend talk show something I think he should have delayed until after the election so he could spend time supporting the ticket instead of trying to re-cast himself as a pundit/entertainer/talk show host.
This is beyond dumb
