Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers, some of whom are currently working for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin's bid for the White House, have been involved in spreading ant-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election. "Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012," says one former Romney aide, now working for McCain-Palin. "The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney. He's in charge on November 5th."

It is so obvious the media are saying this to undermine Palin. Freepers are usually more discerning.
Just like Hillary is doing with Hussein....only without the $6,000 pants suits.
Romney isn’t a Republican.
Even that bit part on “While You Were Out” when he secretly had his secretary’s office remodeled showed what a smooth con-man he is.
I admit that at one time I supported him, but my eyes have been opened. Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal are the future of the GOP now, not that flim-flam flip-flopper with the phony capped-teeth smile.
I wonder ghow many people know that Joseph Smith had a long criminal record for running confidence games and swindling.
Yeah, an “angel” told him to dig up some tablets in his back yard that only he could translate.....
Oh, and its completely Biblical that someone can be baptized and redeemed retroactively decades after their deaths.
I’m gullible, I’ll buy anything </sarc>
Hey, they do have a great choir, though.
bttt
“Agreed. And Romney will be pushing it in age by then anyway. With the new youth movement in politics, including the GOP with the likes of Palin and Jindal, Romneys days as a presidential prospect are over.”
Romney is in the same situation Hillary is this election. If their party wins, their chance at the White House ends.
This critisicm of Palin by Romney staffers makes sense when you think of the big picture. Who has been the most prominent Republicans critical of Palin? The “Wall Street/Northeast” wing of the party. Who were Romneys biggest supporters? Same people.
I think the not so subtle suggestion by Romney that Jindal will run in 2012 (nice of him to assume McCain will lose) is to set up a Palin/Jindal split among social conservatives (thus preventing either from getting a majority of votes) and allow Romney to pull in the economic conservatives.

I think that was just another one of Romney’s little ambushes to put Jindal on the hot seat by being forced to respond to questions that have no relevance for Governor Jindal right now.
I think that Palin and Jindal can and will interact fairly well, also I think that Jindal will cut the economic legs out from under Romney who doesn’t seem to govern very well economically from what we saw in his one little term in elective office.
Actually, I can see Palin/Jindal/Romney primary, but a Palin/Jindal final ticket will be Romney’s exit out.
Oh, yeah..I saw Madden on one of the cable shows a few days ago..talk about “damning with faint praise”. Before I realized he had been a Romney operative, I was wondering “just whose side is this guy on, anyway?”
In that 3 way race, you would see a repeat of the 2008 primary, only Romney would win.
Palin & Jindal would play the Huckabee & Romney parts. Only then it would be Palin & Jindal splitting the social conservative/evangelical vote. Neither would gain enough of an advantage over the other to ever get a majority.
That would leave Romney with the economic conservative votes to himself, and like McCain in 2008, with enough undivided support to win the nomination (even though like McCain, he probably wouldn’t be the choice of the majority of Republicans.)
I have to disagree. AS I’ve stated before, the GOP is in bad need of a youth movement. Palin started it. It will be followed with Jindal. Romney will be in his mid 60s in 2012 and will be seen as old school, no matter how good he looks. I don’t think he will be able to get the nod, period.
I don’t know. Jindal’s still very young. If he were smart, he’d team up with Palin early as her veep—and they’d have it pretty well sown up.
Anybody surprised?
sounds like they were used to Romney’s deep and bottomless pockets.
now they have no money for starbucks and are upset they have to settle for dunkin donuts.
McCain needs to can this dummy post haste. If he/she is stupid enough to make those types of comments thinking it will help Romney, he/she is too dumb to be of any use to McCain/Palin.
The GOP had trouble sewing up the base with the McCain pick. If they want to go through that again in four or eight years, run Romney.
The AS's Prowler specialized during the Primaries and Veep selection process in printing unsourced, anonymous hit pieces on Romney. This is more of the same.
It's amazing how quick people are to believe anything bad about Mitt Romney without any basis in fact. People on this forum would have a problem if their real life reputations were trashed by town or work gossips, yet they buy into it when the victim is somebody else.
Obviously. The jealousy on this forum is so thick people can't think straight.
