Why is it yesterday when people believed Ashley's story that many people here on FR said that the attack reflected poorly on Obama and that the attack would hurt the Obama Campaign.

However, now that it is know that Ashley, a McCain volunteer set the whole thing up to blame a black man for a savage attack, some are saying that it will have no impact on the campaign at all.

Now, how is it that you do not think that racist Ashley's blaming a black man for a politically motivated attack will not impact that election?

Everything probably affects the election in one way or another. I think this girl was probably just disturbed, although I suppose it’s remotely possible that she was a Ron Paul supporter, like the ones who let Code Pink into the convention. However, that seems a little too complicated a plot for somebody like her.

I think the Obama campaign won’t really want to get into it because it might also bring up things like the Tawana Brawley case, which of course is connected with Al Sharpton, who was until fairly recently often seen with Obama. And then of course, there’s the Duke incident, although I don’t think any of Obama’s current political connections had anything to do with that. But I don’t think he wants to revive the memory of Tawana Brawley, and this will certainly do that.
