Roubini has been talking about this for a couple of days as posted at http://www.rgemonitor.com

Bloomberg (October 23, 2008): Roubini Says `Panic’ May Force Market Shutdown. Friday Morning Update: Markets are becoming dysfunctional and S&P and DJIA futures trading already suspended today.

At least the Justice Department has investigators involved and it appears they have discovered some anomalies and trends that are leading them to the source/sources of the suspected market manipulation.

There is an end to this and I think when its all said and done — it is going to confirm a lot our earlier suspicions’ about the timing of this and just whose hands were in this mess…a friend of mine at the Justice Department e-mailed me this;

“Operation Mortgage Fraud,” a broad series of investigations and prosecutions involving the subprime mortgage crisis. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - two government-sponsored enterprises funded by taxpayers - are widely accepted as being at the heart of today’s housing and economic turmoil and are currently under investigation.

That’s all he could tell me was to check out this web site...http://www.mortgagefraud.org

“Karl Rove on Cavuto yesterday said that when the market does this it’s bad for McCain. I turned off the show after that remark.”

Unfortunately, I heard that same line of reasoning on another radio show, when it drops it is hurting McCain, maybe their reasoning is it is hurting the incumbent party.

I really do not think this is a good time for this country to experiment with their “first black president in history.” Obama and his band of Chicago thugs are not experienced enough to handle this mess.

I wish someone in the Republican party would have enough sense to run an ad or two about how much money the American people have lost since the Democrats took control of Congress, 3 Trillion $?, 4 Trillion ?

I bailed-out of all my investments, including IRA and Roth (I’m over 60). I couldn’t take it any more.

Yeah!
Let’s quit talking about the last “8 years”
How about we talk about the last “2 years”??
And then compare those 2 years to the 6 years previous to that?

Sorry, but I have to comment that a drop of -500 points would actually be a 500 point gain.

“Reasoning” has been turned upside down. I don’t know where I live anymore when I listen to and read the MSM. That’s why, after I saw/heard Rove, I reconfirmed my pledge to stay the hell out of the MSM loop and keep it right here.

The election has absolutely nothing to do with this. This has everything to do with horrible quarterly earnings reports, US imports collapsing, foreign exports have greatly diminished markets, and a seized up credit market. This has nothing to do with who will or will not give or take from someone a few extra dollars in a tax cut or increase.

OPEC cuts production 1.5 million barrels/day and the price of oil is still crashing. It doesn’t matter who wins the election. Right now who will be the next president of the US is the farthest thing from their minds now. They are more worried about survival.
